Myself and my wife had an evening without the kids and chose Verona. It turned out to be a good choice. Nice, quiet and small dining room. Service was excellent. Food was delicious particularly the Duck Special. Dessert was also fantastic, (Citrus Tart). We had entrees, Mains and shared a Dessert, the Bill totaling a reasonable $80. We will be back.

Our first time here and we were impressed. The large Tandoori platter was a little expensive $25 for ten pieces, the lamb chops were small and a little tough. We also had the vegetarian MoMo dumplings which were nice. Our mains were wonderful, eggplant curry, beef vindaloo, butter chicken and the chef's special, Country Captain which was lamb with a lovely smokey flavour. The waitress was pleasant, we will definitely be back.

Went for dinner with my adult son who is also a fan of Indian food. Was a bit wary given the poor reviews but we were pleasently surprised. The Ambience is nice and the Service quick and efficient.
We had the Tandoori Kebabs for entree which came with a mint sauce - Fiery and tasty. For mains we had Malai Kofta and Lamb Curry. Both tasty and big serves. Teamed with Rice and Garlic Nann we were full to the brim. The bill was 53 bucks which was pretty reasonable I thought. Would happily go again.

The food was very good, especially the butter chicken, the lamb chops and the calamari pakoras. Service was pretty good and there was a Bollywood movie playing that was entertaining. We ordered the large serve of rice between 4 and it was just enough. Parking nearby was hard to find. Breads were delicious!

We booked for 6.30 pm on a Saturday night and we asked if we could be out by 8 pm, as there were only three of us we thought this was fine. We arrived a little early to allow us more time which worked out well. At 6.30 pm three more groups arrived and there was a steady stream arriving throughout the time we were there. The waiter brought us a jug of ice water and the menu was written on a chalkboard on the wall.
For entrees we shared a dip platter for 2 (sadly the bread was extra), saganaki cheese and octopus. For mains we had befteki (beef and pork rissoles stuffed with feta cheese), gyros (an enormous plate of barbequed lamb, served with some chips), prawns (6 grilled king prawns in shell) and greek salad to share.
All the food was wonderful and the gyros was a generous serve. On the downside, the service was too efficient and we had paid and finished by 7.30 pm, and were feeling stuffed. This restaurant caters for families with young children as well as larger groups. The cost was $131 but we had an entertainment coupon which gave us $25 off (you can also claim Qantas frequent flyer and Myer One shopping points so that was good). A great place for meat lovers but a little pricey.

The Worst. So we get dressed up to go out for dinner with our daughter, spending a small holiday at Ballarat and we chose Indian.
The entree we ordered was Sehkk Kebab, it was grey, there was no evidence of the red/orange liquid which might have indicated it had been in the Tandoori Oven. So we asked for some sauce to go with it, anticipating mint yogurt sauce or Mango Chutney, what we got was tomato sauce, Rosella I think.
Onto the mains, Butter Chicken, which turned out to be Tomato Soup with bits of grey, (hopefully) chicken. Beef in Cashew nut sauce. Should have read Beef in water. Vegetable balls, absolutely and completely tasteless.
Awful food, really dreadful, the spouse complained and they took 10% off the bill, so it was 72 bucks rather than 82 which included corkage at 5.50 per bottle. We told them we were from Melbourne and weren't likely to be coming back anytime soon when they offered us a better meal next time. It was a Weds night so maybe the relief chef was on but that was no excuse.
The decor looks old and tired (including an interesting stain on the ceiling) and like it hasn't been updated for about 20 years. Our evening was ruined, there is a Macca's about 2 doors up, I suggest go there instead, the food will be nicer.

This restaurant was recommended by a work colleague who had dined here several times before. It is a bit tricky to find if you are not a local, as Beach St has two separate parts. (it is close to Nepean Hwy). The wait staff were all attentive, friendly and helpful and not too pushy. There were complimentary papadums and chutneys on the table. We had seekh kebab (a little over cooked) and the lamb chops which were great. We had 4 main meals and two breads.
The garlic prawn curry and the garlic naan were very disappointing, there was no garlic taste to be had and the prawns were watery (obviously frozen). The Butter Chicken and Malai Kofta were great as was the Chanai lamb. The kashmiri naan was yummy. Corkage was $4. Overall, a little uneven in quality. With a little more attention to details, it would have scored higher.

We have driven past this restaurant whenever we go to the city and have made several attempts to get a booking at this restaurant. Each time we have got an answering machine with automated message saying no-one is available to answer the phone. We will not make another attempt! We have had to put a rating in to get this posted, so we are putting a 6 for everything other than service which gets a 1. Happy to hear if anyone ever gets into this place.

Large busy restaurant with good service. Not a venue for a romantic evening but wonderful for a good value lunch or dinner. Generous servings, good quality fresh food and an extensive menu. For entrees, the prawn or pork spring rolls are nice, you get 8 in a serve with lettuce, vietnamese mint and dipping sauce. The rice paper rolls are also good, 4 in a serve with hoisin dipping sauce with chilli.

We have been here many times over the last 10 years, and the food has always been great. The renovation looks great and makes Roti Boti look very elegant. It is a great venue for an intimate dinner or a small family gathering. Booking is a good idea as it is a very popular restaurant. The 'drums of heaven' are a magnificent entree and the all the mains are good. We will definitely continue to come here.
