Very loud atmosphere in the restaurant and found it hard to communicate with our members of our dinner party. Our table of five chose to go the banquet at $58.00 per head.
Entrees were boring and tasteless. According to George Colombaris, the salmon skin should be crispy and the meat should be pink, not well done. So was quite disappointed with the way the kitchen staff prepared it.
Our dessert was a "hellenic mess" consisting of broken up meringue with cream and a strawberry sauce. Was way too sweet, and something you would serve to a child, not served at a gourmet restaurant.
The highlight if I can call it that was the roast potatoes. Very disappointed with the quality of the food for the price paid. Will not be going back.

Was coaxed into going here as apparently Sarah Jessica Parker raved about the place on a recent visit to Melbourne. Had the feeling of an old corner dairy, hence the name, but felt they could have made more of an effort with the decor, but I guess that's part of the experience. I ordered a brekky roll that had bacon and egg and a tomato relish 7/10 - it was good. I thought the coffee was great def 8/10. But the thing that really made me think that this place was better than it probably was, was that Guy Pearce was dining there. Nothing like a bit of celeb spotting!

Visited this place today and was quite frankly appalled at the standard of food that was served. The garlic bread was soft and buttery with little garlic flavour. The fettuccine carbonara was gross! It had no redeeming features whatsoever. Pasta wasn't fresh, had no creaminess, and was absolutely swimming in oil. I had one mouthful and a poke at it, and that was enough!
Not being the type to complain I sat at the table for ten minutes until the waitress came to the table to clear my plate. I almost didn't say anything until she asked if I had finished, then she obviously saw the pool of oil and said she was sorry and would take it away.
Really disappointed in the food because I thought this place was better than that. Never again, when on Lygon it will always be Mercadante's for me!

Pretty good pizza. Found it to be very light with a great selection of toppings and pizza you wouldn't see anywhere else.

My partner and I decided to try Tonik after recently moving to the area. The waiter informed us they were down one staff member for the night, so apologised in advance if there was a slight delay in our meals. The place was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday and we were lucky to get the last remaining table upstairs. That was ok because we didn't have a booking, but downstairs seemed to have a more ambient atmosphere.
Being Wednesday it was their advertised "$12 steak night" which pleased me. The steak was served with an ale and side salad, and cooked just to my liking. My partner was happy with her saganaki and the range of organic wines available. Will definitely be going back to Tonik soon for another steak night.

Have been here three times in the last year, why, I'm not sure. Each time we are spruiked as soon as we approach. "The best Italian restaurant in Melbourne", "a free bottle of champagne for you". Trust me, this wouldn't be the best restaurant in Antarctica and don't think the free wine makes it worth it.
I had the rib eye steak which was a nice piece of meat and cooked to my liking. The accompanying boiled vegetables and tiny potatoes rather spoiled the overall dish though. Decor was dated but its not what I go to a restaurant for. Don't be fooled by the spruiking, the best restaurants don't need spruikers dragging punters in off the street. I guess they need to when the restaurant isn't even half full at 7 pm on a Saturday night.

We have been going here once a week for the last six months. Great fresh traditional thai food and good value for money. I suggest you make a booking on Fri and Sat nights.

Its not oftened I'm allowed to choose a steak restaurant to go for dinner as my partner is not a fan of steak. The atmosphere was rather dull and the service slow. I ordered the rib eye and it was very good. My partner ordered the papadalle pasta and she was not impressed. Upon closer inspection the pasta was all stuck together, and drenched in oil. Yuck! We're not fans of sending food back to the kitchen for fear of having it spat on.
Unfortunately, I will not be allowed to go to Steakout again after this. Disappointing.

I was drawn in by the sandwich board on the main street of Williamstown advertising their "guilt-free burgers".
The shop was a lively and trendy looking place, with a number of customers inside and outside, so I was confident I had made a good choice for lunch. But sadly I was disappointed. I selected the classic burger, the burger patty was warm and was thrown together with some off cuts of mulched lettuce. The best part was the bun which I ate and discarded the burger patty and salad.
I won't be hurrying back next time I visit Williamstown. The fish and chips did look good.
