Went with a group of 12 on Friday night. Pleasant enough and food was Ok. The beef curry was a standout. Main gripe was that we took the $50 banquet and the amount of food was really not enough. We were a group of couples and not expecting over the top portions but I left hungry and several others were the same. We had a good night and the service was good but really considering the food provided we may have been better off ordering individually.

Went with a group of 10 on Thursday night (Easter long weekend), most arrived at 7 with the last by 7:30 to take a group of friends from Melbourne to dinner. They have a no booking policy which is fine as there is a nice bar area. We were told approx 1 hour wait which was also fine. We sat and chatted and enjoyed some cocktails wine and beer all at typical prices for such an establishment-expensive but expected.
Anyway, no table despite numerous polite checks until by 9:40 we'd had enough. The lady dealing with us had been efficient and polite enough and had earlier told us a table was coming up. The table that seemed to have been for us was given to another group. The waitress then told us we would have to wait as they needed to give the table to another group from the restaurants marketing company!
Definitely the last straw! We were then passed on to another waiter-an english gentleman who by then accused me of being rude to the waitress and that we may not have a table at all for us. I certainly had not been rude but by then our group had enough and were happy to leave.
We also suggested we should not pay the bar bill which we had no intention of doing and of course had a credit card securing it-by then the bill had totalled over $500-we did ask for a discount and eventually a small one was provided (after initially being threatened with the police!) but it did not come close to compensating for the debacle and disappointment in what should have been a great celebration with out of town friends.
When informing him we were happy to leave the waiter changed his tune and informed us we could be seated immediately. By then it was 9:50 and birra e pizza were happy to look after us and there was no way Toko was gaining our patronage.
Disappointing but it's nice to see that in this time of credit crunch crisis, Toko is doing so well to treat large groups like this.
