Arrived with my elderly neighbour for breakfast on Tuesday 28 Dec - Boxing Day holiday. I'd actually forgotten how bad the service is. I remembered previous visits for take-away coffees taking a ridiculous amount of time just on a regular weekend. Service at a snails pace.
The guy taking the orders was very nice. We each ordered fruit salad and a coffee and paid separately, so received two separate buzzers to collect food when they buzzed.
Fruit salad was ready within 5 minutes. I went to collect, whilst my elderly neighbour remained seated at the table. I handed the two buzzers back to the waitress advising her that we still had 2 coffees to come, so should I keep both buzzers? She said to keep one and that the two coffees would present on that.
20 minutes later, I went to investigate where the coffees were. The barista looked at the screen and said No. 25 (the buzzer I had) was up next. I waited another 5 minutes at the counter only to be greeted with one coffee. When I advised I was still waiting for a flat white, he looked at his screen and said there was nothing ordered. I advised him that I'd handed the other buzzer (No. 22) back when I collected my fruit salad but was told the two coffees would come on No. 25 buzzer which is the one I had.
He just kept saying, there is nothing ordered and asked me how much I paid. I repeated my order and the price. He was very disgruntled and said again, that nothing is ordered, basically calling me a liar. I kept my calm repeating my order in a loud and firm voice, so he said he'd make it. I went back to my table.
Another 10 minutes went by so I returned to the 'happy barista'. When the waitress realised that I was still waiting she checked for me. He looked at me and said 'you only just ordered it'. It was at that moment that I flipped my lid and told him and everyone waiting, that I'd ordered it over half an hour ago.
I would have thought given the order was his stuff up that he would have made my coffee immediately rather than putting me at the back of the queue again. What the hell was he thinking? It wasn't until I started to raise my voice that he actually decided to make my coffee to shut me up, but why did it have to get to that point? He needs to learn some customer service skills. Totally unprofessional and rude.
What an unpleasant experience and totally ruined my breakfast. The guy that took my order apologised profusely saying the barista was the only one on that day as they weren't expecting the crowds. Guys, it was a public holiday, check your schedules and plan ahead. You guys don't deserve to be running a business in such a great location. You just make everyone's experience unpleasant.
It's all just too 'home made' and totally unprofessional. Avoid at all costs. I'm never returning.
I think Woollahra Council seriously need to consider turfing them out and getting some business minded people in to run it. They could make a killing there, just like La Kiosk at Shelley Beach.

Yes - they have gluten free! Had a really great meal with 5 friends at Bondi Pizza Bondi Junction Westfield on Sunday evening. I've been a few times previously for lunch but the ambience in the evening is really lovely, warm and inviting.
Great cocktails and sensational pizza. Being gluten intolerant, it's quite difficult to find restaurants that understand what gluten even is, let alone cater for gluten free. Prawn pizza is delicious and you'd never know the difference between the gluten free and the regular base. They have seriously perfected the art of Pizza in the gluten free world.
They also serve great pasta and fabulous healthy salads. Also a really great wine selection, all served by attentive staff. Highly recommended. Thought it was really good value for money as well.
