I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant and I think my last visit was the best yet, and that is saying something! I really didn't think it could get any better but I was lucky enough to try the 6 course degustation on the weekend. The only downside - way too much food. One can only be happy when that is the only downside. My pick of the day - the veal with eggplant. Delicious.

What a find. A group of 4 girlfriends, over the rain and wanting to enjoy a night of gossip in a cosy environment. This was it.
We arrived with no reservation and 30 minutes before opening (the website details were incorrect). The staff unlocked the door, let us choose a drink and head upstairs to the one and only table not reserved for the night. I was already impressed!
The food here is fantastic. I can't even pick a favorite, they were all great. The wine menu is extensive and very reasonably priced. I think the whole evening was about $65 per person and I have to say there was quite a bit of alcohol consumed and were definitely had eaten enough food.

We used a voucher at this restaurant and have to say the value was fantastic. The serves are very generous and we struggled to get through everything. The service was fantastic with every staff member offering friendly smiles and a 'can do' attitude.
Unfortunately, we were not blown away by any of the seafood meals. We ordered garlic prawns and the lamb for entree. The lamb was delicious while the prawns were overcooked and a bit bland. We had already ordered our main of paella and were beginning to think we should have ordered one of the tagines. The paella was what we had feared. Overpowered by the seafood, with quite bland rice.
From the amount of tagines we saw leaving the kitchen, I would suggest these would the better choice. The desserts did shine, however. The baked custard was absolutely delicious and the gelato was generous and very yummy.
The service would grant this restaurant a second visit but I will be sure to steer clear of the seafood.

I will start this review with an acknowledgement of using a voucher. I do use vouchers quite a bit but to be honest, I also return when the service and food warrants a return visit. What a disappointing experience this turned out to be. To begin with, when I made the reservation I tried to book for 4 people. The voucher was for 2 and knowing it was a set menu I asked if the other guests can choose anything they wanted.
I was told they could on the provision they ordered 4 courses. I was not comfortable inviting friends and telling them they must order and pay for 3 full priced courses. So, I changed the reservation back to 2. A word of advice to any restaurants using these vouchers as a marketing tool, it might be a good idea to upsell and welcome any additional diners to choose whatever they please! I can absolutely guarantee it would have included at least 2 courses each and an extra bottle of wine (minimum)!
On arrival we found the staff extremely rude. Our first course arrived and it was a tasting plate. Because this was a set menu we had no idea what was on the tasting plate. My girlfriend enquired and "what is this" as it was slapped down in front of us. The waitress sarcastically replied - "um, this is what we call an entree". Yep, thank you for that bit of education. The deal included a bottle of wine.
We noticed the other diners who were not on the voucher had their wine left at the table, but those with the vouchers did not. 2 glasses of wine were poured into our glasses all night and when we asked if there was more wine left we were told "oh, there was the tiniest bit left but we just threw it away". Huh?
The entree was ok, the pork belly was very dry and the dessert was good. Would we come back, never, ever, ever. Do I think the restaurant would actually care -nope!
I gave the value as a 5 because I actually don't know what anything cost. I made a point not to find out because I know it wouldn't make a difference on a return visit anyway. Only thing I can see going for this place is the location. It is close to Central Station.

We went to this restaurant with the scoopon coupon and 2 small children in tow. We loved this little restaurant and is probably one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in quite a long time.
The entree was just ok. I ordered the salt and pepper school prawns and they were not really my cup of tea but that was more of me not really enjoying the texture of the whole prawn. My husband had the scallops and as with the last reviewer I think they had been frozen. But, the mains and the desserts definitely made up for any shortfall.
Our mains were the best salmon and cod I have ever tasted. They were both cooked to perfection and served with the most delicious sides. Our children had the calamari and chips and as with another reviewer I found these to be the best cooked and plentiful kids meals we have ordered in a long time. The chestnut pannacotta was to die for. Perfectly done. Unfortunately, for me my 4 year old polished most of it off.
As for the decor and atmosphere, it is a shame about the view but the food more than makes up for it. It is a small restaurant and could possibly get uncomfortable on a very full evening. We went for lunch at 12.00 and it was very pleasant. The waitress also made our 2 small children very welcome, not something that always happens outside of a "family" restaurant. We will definitely return!

Le Gobelet, the funniest restaurant experience ever. We decided to go on a whim after my husband recalled a visit 10 years ago. We were only in the mountains for a night and thought we would enjoy our room with a good bottle of bubbly and some take away. After deciding to go to the restaurant we booked for 7 pm thinking we would arrive home around 9 pm, with enough time to still enjoy the bubbles. We were wrong!
Our order was taken 40 minutes after arriving and we did not leave the restaurant until close to 11 pm. Normally this would frustrate me but watching the antics of Mirielle and hearing the antics in the kitchen kept us entertained. My advice, go with a low expectation of service, order a bottle of wine as soon as possible and watch the entertainment unfold as you enjoy a drink.
The food was absolutely delicious and well worth waiting for. A bit over salted would be my only complaint. I only ordered a main, to keep room for the apple tart but when I requested my desired dessert I was told it was too late and would I like fresh mango instead, nnnnooooo, I had my eye on the tart from the minute we walked in.
So, my 2nd bit of advice is advise them early if you want something in particular off the dessert list. They make everything from scratch and this adds to the time frame. We chose the creme brulee instead and were not disappointed. The best creme brulee I have ever eaten. My husband also thought the pate was the best he has ever eaten.
Overall, a great laugh and some fantastic food. Just arrive with your patience and sense of humour and you will not be disappointed!

Too light and too tight best describes the ambience of this restaurant. The tables are crowded together and it felt like we were sitting on our neighbours laps. I rated the food a 5 because my particular choices were not enjoyable at all. There were 4 in our group and 2 really enjoyed all of their choices, 1 enjoyed his main and dessert and I really only enjoyed the dessert. My main of spaghetti with calamari arrived minus the chilli which resulted in a dry and bland dish. I had to "steal" peas from my husbands dish to add some colour and flavour.
The highlight of the menu was definitely the desserts which were by far the "winners" of the night. It was possibly the best tiramisu I have eaten. The restaurant is BYO and does not charge corkage and at the end of the night we paid $65 per person for 3 courses, which was a nice surprise considering the prices were absent from the menu. This was a disappointing first and last visit.

Being locals we have walked past this restaurant many times but had no idea how gorgeous this restaurant was inside. It has been outfitted beautifully and fits in well with the beachside.
The service, food and wine menu were all extensive and suitable to many different tastes. We highly recommend the pork belly, it was the best pork belly my husband and I have ever eaten. Unfortunately, for me my husband had this dish and only gave me one taste because he couldn't bear to part with any more. I ordered the barramundi which was very good. The only reason I didn't score the food perfect was because of the desserts.
Though my dessert of apple brioche was very nice the chocolate delice could have been better. Highly recommend this place for a special evening out.
