Eating in is a bad idea, terrible decor and service. Takeaway is a much better option, quick, cheap and tasty. The lemon chicken is fantastic and the BBQ pork is the best outside Sydney. The duck is also good value. Highly recommended.

Yeah, the burek's pretty good here. The only reason I would go to Fairfield. But what happened to the Continental Hot Burek shop in Newtown? It disappeared long ago and I am pathetically waiting for them to return. Every time I walk past the spot where they used to be, I cry. That was the best, Burek ever.

I have so many fond memories of this place. The only thing that would get me and my sister off our fat bottom when we lived in Byron was the thought of Cafe Wunderbar food. We would ride our bikes to this tiny little shop, buy sandwiches and cakes, ride to the beach and feast. I love orange almond cake and the two lovely frauleins made the best one I've ever tasted. Little shop, big heart, great food. Fond memories! Danke.

Have only been here once so don't want to be too harsh. We were the only people in the place and the service was pretty slow. I was unimpressed by the curries we ordered. But the roti made up for it. My god. They were worth the wait. You must try them.

Friendly staff, fast service, great atmosphere, and well-placed next to Maxx Black.
The cannoli are amazing! Pannacotta gelato inside a little cannoli shell dipped in chocolate. YUM!

Went here recently for a friend's birthday. The decor is themed but not too tacky. We sat at the big table and had a few drinks and enjoyed ourselves. To begin with. When my sister's steak arrived, however, it was overcooked. It looked and tasted terrible. When she mustered enough courage to complain the waitress argued with her. Repeatedly. And didn't offer her anything else. Appalling. My poor sister was so embarrassed she just listlessly picked at her meal and then went to Oporto's afterwards.

My girlfriend ordered the Vet's Supper, so called I think because it is meant for rabbits. She had to share my steak (which was fine. The sauce they serve with it is excellent.) We were both still hungry at the end of the meal. If funds had permitted, I would have ordered some fried camembert for dessert. Other people in our party highly recommended the Danish Delight. A pretty good night out marred somewhat by stubborn waitress and small serving size/steep prices.

The food is great, if a little overpriced, and the ambience is lovely and cosy. We went there when it was snowing and sat in front of the fire for a while. Bliss!

Unfortunately that was short-lived. We moved to a table and were ignored for a long while. We didn't mind; it was a busy day and we were enjoying watching the snow falling on Katoomba Street. When we were finally seen to the waiter kept bothering us to order, a bit rich when we didn't get a menu for half an hour. I understand that customers who pore interminably over the bill of fare are awful but we barely had a chance to read it. He was horribly rude and argumentative for no good reason!

The coffee was good and the food was tasty. I recommend the bacon and egg rolls. The ploughman's lunch is superb! The value is okay. I recommend you go there, but only if that horrible old man has the day off. He obviously needs it.

The only good thing I'll say about this place is that the coffee is good. Everything else is terrible. The bland food, the fake-friendly service from the pretentious baristas, the horrid ambience. It's full of people reading the Financial Review and spoiled private school brats. The other day there was actually someone reading the Unbearable Lightness of Being and sipping a latte on one of the couches. Poser.

I don't know what you're all on about - the decor sucks as well. I think North Shore people like this cafe because they're all really boring and uptight and they thing they're being bohemian if they hang out there.

If I wasn't addicted to caffeine I would avoid this place. I can't believe people actually like it!

Since the renovation it has vastly improved. The chicken parmigiana was really tasty and excellent value. A huge serving with salad and chips and a can of coke for around $15. A little Italian boy served me. So cute. Wish I'd had room for the Mr. Pisa Gelato. I used to love those when I was a kid.

I only eat here because it is convenient. The food, admittedly, is not always great, nor is it cheap. The barista, however, is great and the head waitress is fantastic. I get the feeling that there have been a few staffing problems and changes of ownership so I'm hoping they'll settle down soon. I recommend that people stick to breakfast and coffee until they get themselves sorted out.
