Had dinner at this restaurant with a group of four on a busy Saturday Night. I agree with other reviews, the name Satay Hut was a little misleading. The menu was extensive and had a mix of Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai and Chinese?
The service was quite good, quick and no fuss. Unlike many of the other reviews? We ordered our starters and mains and within 20 minutes had our starters served and eaten and our mains served. We ordered san choi bow, crispy duck pancakes and both were good for starters.
The mains were Mongolian Beef, Pad thai, Mee Goreng, and thai green curry. All were ok, the mee goreng was the only real disapointment with little flavour and chewy calamari. The meals were of a good size and we couldn't eat the entire meals. The value was good, the quality was good not great. Overall a good experience, I wouldn't rush back but I would eat here again.

Visited this restaurant with a group of 10 (5 couples). Haven't visited the restaurant for a few years and would definitely not return unless we absolutely had to!
The food was as previously stated in other reviews. Unnecessarily Huge portions, poor quality and extremely overpriced. Although they offer free garlic bread it was soaked in oil and not required. Due to the mains being served on platters not plates. The steak's we ate were not cooked as requested. We were very disappointed.
The service was mediocre nothing special at all. The decor was 1972 and is need of a trip to the local "tip". We had little change out of $150 with two meals and some drinks. Would not reccomend this establishment to anyone.

Had a birthday dinner with a large group of 20 on a busy Saturday night. The Staff were well presented and they tried hard to service us well but fell a little short. Drinks were a little slow and entrees were slow for the order to be taken. We had to ask the staff that we wanted our mains order to be placed.
The meals were good, not exceptional but good value for money. There was a good spread of different meals ordered but all were received well and no one was upset with their meals at all.
The Ambience wasn't great in the Casino Lobby, especially when there was a cat fight in the main lobby downstairs. Ha ha. All in all a good night, but I will try another place to eat at the casino before I dine here again.

Had dinner with a group of four at this restaurant on a busy saturday night. We made a booking for 7.30 pm and was thirty minutes late. Whoops? on arriving the friendly waiter (Ben) was fantastic, he found us a table straight away and took our drinks order.
Oysters and garlic breads were for entree, the oysters were fresh and very tasty!
We ordered three Neptune platters for mains, which were fantastic! Grilled Moreton bay bugs, marinated baby octopus, cooked king prawns, marinated cuttlefish and succulant sea scallops. It was presented well on a bed of rice and surrounded by fresh salad.
The meal was enjoyed by all, the mains took a little long. But with good service by our waiter you don't seem to mind so much. Great night, plenty of food and drink. Will go back for another great experience.

Had Breakfast with a group of five. The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant wasn't overly busy but was around half full. The coffees came out quickly and were all quite good, no complaints at all around the table.
The meals quickly followed. I had the braised beef mince on toast with poached eggs. It was a very good sized portion, not too big or small. The mince was tasty and the eggs were cooked well for my liking (a little runny). All of the other meals looked good, the eggs benedict looked rather good as well as the breakfast bruschetta.
Would definitely go back for a meal again. The place livens up a night and is a great place to go for pre-drinks. Overall a good experience.

Have been a few times to this Restaurant, on recomendations from family. The Food is Ok, not great. I have had better sashimi elsewhere on the coast. The Tempura is good, the other small dishes are ok (edamame/agedashi tofu etc.). I haven't tried the steam boat yet, but will when the weather cools down.
The service I have to say was poor, it was hard to get any of the girls attention both times I have been. The ambience is ordinary as well, we had a leaking A/c next to us and the overall decor needed a revamp. Overall mediocre experience.

Fantastic fresh sahimi and nori rolls. Not the biggest range of sushi, but the freshest cleanest sashimi I have had so far on the coast. Better than any of the other sushi outlets. Have fish and chips as well for those not keen on raw fish. Have gone there a number of times and will go back. Huge range of fresh fish, crabs, prawns etc.

Brilliant little place in Balmain. Up there with the best coffee in Sydney. I know a big rap but it's true. The food here isn't the drawcard but the coffee is. I didn't dislike the food but the coffee was that good it made the food look a little ordinary.
Great place none the less will go back for sure.

Good little Thai restaurant clean good service and great food. This one is a little gem, the only way to find this one is by word of mouth. Better than any of the other Thai restaurants in the tourist areas on the coast. Will recommend this one indeed, will come back for sure.
