Yum Yum Yum! This is one of my favourite sushi bars in Sydney! The food is fabulous and fresh, the portions are generous, the waitstaff are friendly and helpful and the value is incredible! I've been here a few times with many different people, and everyone always loves it! It's delicious, yummy and you walk away content with life!
The sushi is fresh, and it's clear that they are serious about buying their fish daily and first grade. I'd rate it as being almost as good as the Tsukiji Fish markets (Really!). Everything I've tried here has been fabulous, and have not yet had one bad meal. One thing I highly recommend apart from the chef's special mixed plate, is definitely the grilled eggplant!
I'd recommend this restaurant one hundred times over! Go there and try it out, it would be impossible to be disappointed!

A wonderful modern Italian restaurant! My husband and I wanted a romantic dinner out, which was slow paced, easy going, but nice. Alio was the perfect place. The wait staff were lovely and helpful, the service was great, they weren't overly annoying nice, it was genuine and they told you their favourite courses and not so favourite.
We ended up ordering the Foccacia, Chips with chilli and rosemary, The spaghetti con le vangole, Tortellini and the Barramundi. They served us first with a starter soup (complimentary) which was incredible. Cauliflower soup like you've never had it before!
The foccacia is incredible as well, it just melts in your mouth, it was incredible. It was followed by the best combo chips I've ever had, fried chilli and rosemary with the chips! What an amazing feat! My husband had the Spaghetti which for him (he's Italian) he found so-so, nothing special, but still good. I had the Tortellini with pumpkin and sage, it was wonderful! He had the Barramundi to finish, and he said it was incredible!
We also ordered a dessert, the caramalised lemon tart. I was in heaven. It was the best lemon tart I've ever had. I highly recommend it! Go go go! It definitely a good meal!

This really is a wonderful little restaurant. After reading all the reviews, my friend and I decided to go. There were very few tables, but those that were there were regulars. A good sign!
We ordered our food, and it was promptly served, fresh and delicious! The Veg Summer Rolls were great, not the best in the world, but still great! We also ordered the Veg Noodles, and the Veg Vegie Satay. Both of which were amazing and delicious.
I'd recommend going to this place if you were after a really nice casual affair, to relax and enjoy the food, which is a nice price above all!

I really like this Sushi Train. It's a great dining place, and even though it's not spectacular, it's always a solid experience. The sushi is fresh, well, if you ask for it fresh, they will make it up, otherwise, like most Sushi trains, you never know how long it really has been on the train!
Their menu is pretty good, and they make everything off it fresh, so be prepared to wait, but it's worth it, especially as it is a little cheaper than pulling off the train.
Drinks are average, nothing spectacular. Overall, it's a pleasure to dine there.

After much debate about where to eat our leisurely Sunday lunch, we decided on Bar Sirocco, it looked like it had a great atmosphere, and it's in a great location.
We went in and sat down outside. After we sat down the waitress barked at us, asking whether or not we wanted food. After we said yes, she then ungraciously said, after looking at her watch "You have three minutes" dumped the menus and walked off.
I was ready to walk out there and then, but my husband convinced me that it would be fine. Less than three minutes passed and she came back, my husband made the comment "you literally meant three minutes" to which she replied surlily "I'll be back in one minute". Yikes.
We quickly decided on some food and hoped for the best! She came out with our food, dumped it and left again, meanwhile giving attitude to other people wanting to have a quick bite.
The food was mediocre to say the least. The eggs were soaked in oil and had that Maccas consistency to it (yuck), and the mushrooms were cooked in a dirty pan so they soaked up the flavours of goodness knows what. The homemade baked beans left a lot to be desired. The avocado was the only thing that had it's original flavour (and that's because it wasn't cooked).
As soon as my husband put the fork down, the plate was taken away, whilst I was only halfway through my meal. It was not a pleasant experience, nor were the staff commendable. I will not be returning ever again.

I usually love visiting the Magpie Cafe, and everytime I have been there previously, they have been wonderful.
The atmosphere of the cafe is wonderful, a pleasure to sit back and relax enjoying food with friends and family. Generally the service is good, friendly and helpful, and I've never really had a problem with any of the staff. The food is always great, good portions and very yummy.
It's the stereotypical country cafe with wholesome food with a relaxed atmosphere.
Having been brought up in the country, I was prepared for Sydney prices regarding the food, since it is now a tourist destination, but what I wasn't prepared for was paying for something I didn't receive.
They recently changed the menu, but there was nothing that was vegetarian friendly on the menu, so having asked the waiter, he said that they could do almost anything there and they would make it meat free and add other bits and pieces. So after much debate, I decided on the steak sandwich as it was what he recommended they could do as a vegetarian alternative, well, suffice to say, I received the steak sandwich, only minus the meat, with no pluses!
Rather than making a fuss, I thought oh well, that's fine. It was ok, but nothing special. When the bill came however, they had charged the steak sandwich in full ($18.95), even though it clearly said no meat! crazy! It was the most expensive salad sandwich I've ever had. I think I might wait for a menu change with some vegetarian options before I go again!
It's still a great cafe though, but vegetarians be warned, it's not the place for you! Meat eaters welcome!

I love Pizza Napolitana and I love going to 'the top' pizzerias in Sydney. It's surprising that Pizza Mario made it into the 'Top Three' in Sydney, especially when the prices are so high and the quality of the pizzas isn't all that grand.
The atmosphere in Pizza Mario is fun, loud, but a little ritzy for a Pizzeria. It's table upon table, with little breathing space, and a guarantee for accidentally hitting someone, stepping on their toes or squashing them into their table while you open your chair to get into yours. Cozy wouldn't be the right word to describe it! The service is interesting. It's very casual, and not even up to a standard trattoria's. The prices are not reflected in the service, although the staff are funny and flamboyant.
The food. Hmmm. After becoming quite excited at seeing croquettes on the menu, I ordered them post haste, and eagerly awaited their arrival. What a waste of money! The croquettes were probably store bought, as they were still frozen in the middle, plus there was no taste to them whatsoever (really). After a disappointing start I moved my hopes into the pizza. Grand sigh. My hopes were once again misplaced. The pizzas were good, but nothing special. You would think with the prices that you would be getting quality ingredients, but instead it was average. Very average.
The dough, however, was yummy. It's not my favourite pizza dough, but it was good. In all honesty, I would have rather eaten elsewhere than pay that money, or instead pay the money and eat at somewhere else. Try it and see what you think, but there are much better pizzerias out there.

This was a lovely dining experience. The food was wonderful, the service was good and the price was okay. The space itself is quite small and intimate, so be prepared for eavesdropping, and loud parties. It's a lot of fun though, and it makes for an ideal dining experience.
The food was yummy, the Pad See-eew was great, and not too heavy. The curry puffs were spectacular, and the panang curry was good, not the best, but still good. I also recommend their homemade ice-creams. They're were delicious. Overall, a lovely dinner experience with good friends!
Response from Management:
Thanks heaps for your review, and we are glad you enjoyed your dining experience.
Like many restaurants, weekends are busy at times, and weekdays are usually less crowded.
Look forward to seeing you again, and we are always creating new desserts.
Cheers,
Atom

Zushi is a great little restaurant squeezed into the hubbub of Darlinghurst. The location of the restaurant is a bit weird, a bit squashy, but somehow fits right in, and in all honesty, anything that is right next door to Messina Gelateria, is a-okay by me.
The service is wonderful, the wait staff are not only friendly and amicable, they are knowledgeable about the dishes, the portions and food matching as well as being honest. The food was yummy, fresh, a little rich, but good portion sizes and well priced. It's by no means 'the best' Japanese fusion food, but it is delicious, and worth the money.
Don't get the green tea, it's not great, but everything else we grabbed on the menu was. The avo, asparagus, cucumber and pickled sushi was great, although anymore and it would have been too much. The agedashi tofu was wonderful, and perfectly fried, as well as being perfectly served.
The sushi+ sashimi combination was incredibly fresh, well cut and prepared with no mixing of flavours. Overall, this was a great dining experience, and one I would recommend for those down the darlinghurst way. Be warned, it might not be enjoyable for you if you are looking for a restaurant specifically to spend all your time in relaxing and merrymaking.
It is in the heart of Darlinghurst/the cross, there is much pedestrian traffic, there are drunken people always out the front (at night) and it's right next door to the busiest gelateria outside of haberfield/leichhardt.

This is by far the best pizza place in Sydney! Once I discovered this place a few years ago, I never looked back. The pizzas here are as you would expect in an excellent pizzeria in Italy, and dare I say, even better than half the pizzerias in their motherland.
You pay for what you get. The prices for pizzas match the quality of ingredients, and you can really taste the difference between good quality and mediocre quality. At Rosso, you only get the best. You can tell it does a good job because the restaurant is mainly with Italians (a sure sign to good Italian cuisine).
This is one of my favourite eateries in Sydney and try and get there once a week or once a fortnight. I always take friends here and in the end they become regulars as well! I highly recommend Rosso for anyone who is a lover of pizza!
