It has been several years since I last visited Bank's restaurant. Nothing has changed however. The food is still brilliant. Service is fast. The fish was very fresh and superbly cooked. The Duck curry was incredibly tender. It can be very noisy even on a quiet night but the food is worth it. It is no wonder that this outlet has been around for so long. It is certainly one of the best Thai restaurants in the area.

If is no wonder that this restaurant is very busy all the time. They serve great food that is perfectly cooked and the meat is always very tender. We had the combination for the main course, duck, chicken and pork belly. All were the tenderest meat we had ever had.

Servings were large so you don't go hungry. They sure know how to cook in the kitchen. The restaurant is extremely noisy and our drink order was forgotten but otherwise it was the great food that made the night memorable. We will be back.

This local restaurant probably suits the many students in the area rather than someone wanting a reasonably good dining experience. There is no ambience but it is the food and service that really counts. Unfortunately, the only waitress failed to give even a hint of a smile. A smile would have doubled the service rating given. She was fast, helpful and polite but remained stoned face the entire time even when delivering the food. A smile would have gone a long way on a quiet Saturday night.

The beef curry was okay but we had to remove too much excess oil from the dish before eating it. Food here is not as good as another outlet of theirs in Croydon (which is brilliant on All levels). The rice serving was large. The deep fried sambal fish was very disappointing. Tiny bits of fish covered with too much batter. It was hard to see the fish. Disappointing.

When a new restaurant opens they should do everything possible to ensure that their customers will return. Not here however. With only four tables occupied one would expect service to be reasonably fast. It wasn't. We had a voucher which stated that you could have Any 2 entrees and Any 2 mains. When we received only a half serve of the entree, we complained and we were later given another serving. We were also limited to which entrees that we could have despite the voucher clearly stating Any Entree.

The mains that were served were smaller than other customers received at the next table. The fish was slightly undercooked but the chicken was okay. There was only enough food for one person as the servings were small. What really annoyed us was that we waited an incredible 50 minutes from the time we finished the entree until the main course was served. No reason or apologies were given when the food finally arrived. Unless the kitchen gets their act together then this restaurant will have a very short life.

Unfortunately, at this outlet they know nothing about service and didn't even care. All other diners had a similar waiting time. Honestly, who would return to a restaurant with such bad service?

We went on a quiet Easter Sunday night, as parking is a major problem (almost non-existent) in the area. Luckily we found a space a few doors from the restaurant.

Service was very good and helpful and drinks came very fast. The chefs cook the food extremely fast and perfectly. A most tedious job. Congratulations to the chefs on duty. You did a great job. The food was very tender and choices were large and about a dozen of sauces to choose from. We will be back.

We went late on a quiet easter thursday night. They were about to close shortly but we were given the friendliest welcome that we had received in a restaurant in a long time. Although we were too late for some dishes we managed to have more than enough to choose from.

The food was beautifully cooked and presented and very fresh. Our compliments to the Chef on duty. The service reminded me of my childhood and the hospitality we received when dining at our Middle Eastern relatives homes. Our waitress (Gulay - or something sounding like that) certainly knows how to treat customers and give them that very friendly service. Even later customers were given the same friendly treatment even though they only came in for coffee.

The restaurant looked so clean that you could have eaten off the floor. This is how all good restaurants should be, great food and the best in service. We will definitely be back.

What a fantastic restaurant Essen is. The servings were not only huge but beautifully cooked and presented. Quite possibly the best restaurant I have eaten at in a long time. Service was also great and the food arrived in a short time. The panna cotta dessert was superb. Well done kitchen staff. We will be back.

This review is for the $20 buffet only so I can't comment on the normal menu which I will try next time. Despite not having a booking, we were lucky to get a table on a very busy friday night. The drinks and water were delivered to our table in a flash. The buffet was small, in fact very small. Only a few dishes, several desserts and salads made up for the lack of main dishes. You won't go hungry, however, as they keep replenishing the dishes at regular intervals.

The diners at the table in front of us had no room to leave as their table was too close. The problem with the buffet was that the food was warm rather than at a much higher temperature. Some of the food on the buffet table (spring rolls and potato gems) looked like they were from the supermarket. A couple of more main dishes on the buffet would justify the price as only one of the three dishes appealed to me and one had no name on the dish.

We tried the sushi train as it is cheaper on sundays. $3 a dish. No complaints about the food but the service was almost non existent. Only one person taking your sushi order who seemed to be busy clearing tables and we had to go and get her for service. (there was very little on the train to choose from). We ordered several dishes. The only waiter got things mixed up and we were given items that we did not order and others which were for someone else, perhaps?

Despite her writing everything down she still managed to get confused. The wait for the food was far too long. It was a very very quiet sunday night and there were plenty of staff in the kitchen. So why the long wait. We normally eat twice the number of dishes when we eat at sush trains but with the ultra slow service, we decided that we spent too much time waiting for the food to arrive.

The variety was okay but not as many dishes as other sushi trains we have been to for the same price. We will return as the price is worth it on Sundays. Let us hope the service improves substantially. I would hate to see them when they are busy.
