Went to Portofino after many years and a friend recommended it to me but, unfortunately, I was very disappointed. Being from Italian descent, it was very saddening that the kitchen and wait staff were all Asian/Indian, right in the centre of Little Italy too!

However, the service was attentive (but then there were only two other tables with people) and the food was ok. Garlic pizza was lovely, then we ordered calamari and a spaghetti marinara for entree and only got one spoonful of pasta between three people! I know it was an entree but pasta doesn't cost much does it? And there was lots of tomato sauce in the plate but no bread on the table meaning they want customers to order bread and, therefore, charge you for it. Very disappointing indeed. The mains were a good size and filling, however, flavour was so-so.

I must admit though that the panna cotta dessert was amazing! It left us with a nice taste in our mouths until the bill arrived at over $200 for three people... Not happy...

No I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant to people who want an Italian restaurant with good Italian food. There are many, many other restaurants in Leichhardt and the Inner West, that serve good Italian food, cooked by Italians and are much better value for money!
