Had the home made gnocchi here while visiting Perth, was the best I've ever had anywhere anytime, hope it still remains the same.

Abyssinian, The, Kensington

The food is disappointing as there was evidence of an attempt to make this a dining/cultural experience, the size of serves were meagre, taste and presentation was pretty average as well, considering that matt preston gave them a good crit...I can only assume they have slipped since then or saw him coming and gave special treatment. The non ethiopian sweets aka creme caramel and yogurt with berries were very nice.


Response from Management:
To assume we gave special treatment to Mr. Preston (that by the way came into our restaurant with no advise and, due to my ignorance in regards to food critics, did not know who he was until we saw the review) is a cheap shot from this customer. If you did not like our food, fine for me. I do not expect everybody to like what we cook. In regards to "slipped since then", our record shows the contrary.

Attempt to make it a dining/cultural experience: we do cook and serve the food as it is done in our country every day. I am pretty sure that if you go to eat Italian in this country and they give you bread and wine in the table, that would be cultural dining for you. (but nothing near to how the food is in Italy, trust me!)

Our portions are above standard size in the industry, and the presentation and taste are traditional. And least but not last, we do not attempt to make anything but our traditional food as it should be made. Thanks!
