Booked a work celebration function and paid for the $49 per head tapas as there were 18 people attending. We requested that food be brought out within 10 minutes of being seated, an hour later and we still weren't served despite multiple requests. They were busy as there were obviously a number of Xmas functions, but the fact that we paid a deposit and they knew how many were coming in advance, it was a disappointing start.

The service staff are pleasant enough, but after being told the food would arrive in 2 minutes numerous times, our patience was being tested. The food was fine and everybody came away full. The sangria was also very nice.

We just happened on this place and decided to give it a try. We dined on duck pancakes, soft shell crab and satay squid - all amazing. Service is attentive and professional. The cocktails, wine and sake list is extensive. Loved this place and can't wait to go back.

As others have said, the pancake and rice paper rolls are a must. We also enjoyed the chicken and cashew and salt and pepper prawns. Total cost $59. Not bad value for a date night. It gets busy, so if you don't go early, be sure to book as seating is limited. Service is pleasant, quick and attentive without being intrusive. Nice little local.

Enjoyed the degustation menu for dinner. Everything was delicious and great value at $85 per person. Scallops, lamb cutlets, onion tart, squid ink pasta, salmon, dessert, everything amazing. I love the fit out, very chic and the service is professional.

My husband and I enjoyed the seafood platter and there was a lot to enjoy. We shared a piece of the chocolate cake for dessert, delicious! The owner is always friendly and comes by for a chat.

My husband and I visited this spot for Saturday lunch. They weren't very busy, but that's more a reflection of Manly on a rainy day than this great cafe. Plus many may think of it as night time fare.

For entree we had the Lamb Brochette ($13.00) charcoal grilled skewers of lamb fillet in a
marinade of sweet paprika, cumin, garlic, pure olive oil and served with tomato sauce - the lamb was tender and the sauce a nice accent. We also enjoyed the Harissa Prawns and ordered extra bread to soak up the delicious sauce. For main we shared the paella ($54 for 2) and there was an abundance of seafood and chicken in there and it was very filling - ordered sides of harissa (love spicy but this was super charged) and the yoghurt that mixed nicely to take the bite off the harissa.

For dessert my husband had the burnt cream custard with pistachios ($13) and I had the delicious Khulua Flavoured Tirumisu ($16) which was an absolute winner and a dish we both enjoyed. The restaurant is in a nice location across from Manly wharf and the service was excellent. It was nice to sample a different type of cuisine.

This was my first visit to Pilu and the food and service was fantastic. I enjoyed the zucchini flowers and pasta with lobster (both specials) and my friend had the lightly battered zucchini flower and Claire de Lune oyster, with fried squid and Crystal Bay prawns and Rangers Valley hanger steak with a selection of mushrooms, Cannonau jusand a parsley, caper and mustard dressing.

We enjoyed a mix of the seasonal vegetables on the side and had ‘Carta di Musica’, freshly made ricotta with truffle abbamele and a selection of olives for nibbles. My friend had an amazing red and Bellini. The service was fantastic, great recommendations and the view is predictably lovely for a beach side venue. I can see why Pilu is one of Sydney's finest restaurants.

Tokonoma was So good. The passionfruit Bellini was fresh and yummy and we enjoyed the tempura crab, tofu (well worth trying), scallops, chicken and ribs and everything was divine. I'm already planning my next visit. I was a little concerned about the reviews regarding the attitude of their team, but the service was professional and super friendly, so maybe they've had an attitude adjustment.

Had a great meal of salt and pepper calamari and prawns (not on the menu, but they were happy to make it), green chicken curry and Massaman beef curry and curry puffs and another item for entree, meals plus one glass of wine, gin and tonic and diet Coke came to $119, so not super cheap. The venue is nice overlooking the water. The service gets there but is not overly attentive.

Had a lovely dinner last night with friends and enjoyed the rare grilled Angus beef, organic beets, horseradish, crème fraiche, chives & lemon ($39). My friends both enjoyed the Italian roasted lamb, oregano, peperonata and salsa verde($36). I'm not a big meat eater and thought I'd get my fix at La Scala, it was divine! You have two options of it being cooked, rare or well-done, I opted for the latter and it was still extremely tender.

For sides we had the Tuscan fries ($8) and a salad of bitter leaves, rocket, pounded walnuts, ricotta and chives ($9.50). The fries were nice although not that chili and the salad was interesting but not overly special. The waiter was a lot of fun and was excellent at recommending wines and explaining the menu. La Scala has a chic layout, as the crowd grew it become more challenging to hear 'low talkers' over the din. It was a hot day yesterday and a trip up the stairs to the pink powder room (loved it) was uncomfortable as there was no air conditioning in that area. All in all, a great night.
