My new favourite Malaysian in Sydney! Huge portions and decent prices. Nasi lemak was beautiful, the biggest one I can recall having in this country and it was only $9! Milo Ais and the teh tarik were just as they should be, kacang cendol was very nice, chicken satay was very nice though the peanut sauce tasted a bit curry-ish, still I can't fault this place for what it is, forget ambience and service, you know what to expect when you come to a place like this and it is great Food and nothing more.

Went there Sunday for lunch, luckily we were the only ones there! We got the chicken pad thai and the choo chee with prawns and both were perfect. Alot of pad thais are too oily and use low quality noodles, not here! Good quality ingredients, friendly staff, and as others have said I will say too, try the homemade ice cream it is excellent.

Value is good, average prices for most main dishes $10-16. I will definitely be going here again soon! Great quality food at average prices, how can you go wrong.

2nd time I have been here and I forgot to review it the 1st time ! Had the entree of golden chicken wings, great value though average chicken wings. Stir fried pork and vegetables in peanut satay sauce was beautiful, a huge amount, I only had half and the other half will be my lunch at work tomorrow ! The chicken coconut salad was really nice, great tastes. Definitely recommended if you are in the area. My only real problem was the noise in the place, because the kitchen is right there it gets pretty noisy and then you have the people at the other tables trying to be heard over the kitchen noise so it just gets louder and louder in there but the food was good, the value was good. I will be back but maybe take-away next time. Oh and you have to pay for rice which has sadly become the norm these days but I still don't have to like it.

First Review! And we have a new king of Malaysian Cuisine in Sydney! Forget, Mamak in the city, forget Jackie M, forget them all, this is it! Fried chicken was to die for, chicken satay was great, roti canai was freshly made, (just like in mamak) not the frozen ones you get in most places, beautiful roti, teh tarik was perfect.

I've tried every Malaysian place in Sydney and alot on KL itself and this place is great! Go there right now! One hint: the lunch prices are a bit less expensive than their dinner prices.

Having been to their Harris St restaurant, I knew what to expect and it was all much the same food if some items are a little more expensive at the Croydon store. I am not a fan of serving a 40cent frozen roti for $5.00 especially if it is burnt. Bur apart from that it is decent food, the nasi lemak was good, the chicken curry was nice but I prefer the Malaysian cafe in Ashfield :)

Had a burger here tonight based on a few recommendations and it was a good burger but no way was it worth worth twelve dollars! My wallet would have been emptied if I had wanted fries and a drink as well! They have some burgers for $28 - are you serious? Decent burgers, nothing great, not much in the way of service, cool ambience - Awful value - so expensive!

Awful service, the food was ok, the ambience was ok, the value was decent but all I can remember from our two visits there is the awful service. They are teenage girls who obviously do not give a crap what is going on. Bad bad bad.

Only went here because we had a for 2 for 1 voucher from a supermarket receipt. Pretty average standard pub fare. Wouldn't bother unless another 2 for 1 deal comes up.

This has now replaced Ceci in Strathfield for the best value chicken/don gasse in Sydney. The portion is huge and the price is the same as everywhere else where the portion is much smaller. Sure, they have other foods like the Vietnamese rice paper rolls which we had a while ago but it's all about the gasse here. Ambience is average, service is average, but that is fine when the food is pretty good and value is excellent !

I have known of Mamak since it opened but have never got around to going there until last week. We were smart, got there at 5.45pm on a Monday so walked straight in and sat down. Avoided the chicken satay since we have had this before from their stall at the Malaysian festival in Darling Harbour.

We got the roti canai (even though we had this previously at the festival as well) ayam goreng, roti pisang for dessert. kopi ais and teh tarik (also had this before but have to have it again).

Everything was great, the food was great, service was pretty food though they did get pretty busy as the night went on. Ambience was good, and the value was (for Sydney) pretty good. I think we got out of there for under $40 IIRC. It is hard to rate value since we eat all this stuff in Malaysia for one tenth of the price but for Sydney it was not bad. Definitely recommend to try it at least once to everyone !
