On a Wintery and windy Thursday evening we head over to Bistro Lilly for their Spring Menu. The two of us braved the cold weather to come dine at a time when most would have stayed at home but we came out with no regrets.

Food: We started off by sharing a wonderful pan-seared scallops between us. Four sweet tasting marina mollusc that I would consider upsizing to a main size because they were divine. Our mains were the Scotch Fillet and Prawn+Clam Linguini. The Scotch Fillet was chosen with the Horseradish sauce which I think worked quite well with the fillet but my partner thought it was wasabe-like too strong.

The Linguini also was a very nice dish in which fresh prawns can be tasted in a tomato based sauce with a hint of spice. The best dish was to come and it was Bistro Lilly’s signature Yucatan Chocolate Pudding. It was a fantastic dessert on a cold chilly night and though it can be shared between two people due to its slight richness, it was one dessert I definitely would like to triple upsize. Yum!

Ambience: Quiet nice there was just another couple sitting a few tables and after an hour the restaurant became a private dining venue for us. No complaints because we are here to enjoy the food.

Service: Cher and Marc are a pair of polite host that do make you feel welcome. Service with professionalism and a smile. Keep up the great work.

Overall: Price for an entree + 2x mains + an excellent dessert was $115.

On a dull and rainy Thursday night, all 8.5 of us (0.5 being a baby) dined at Wolfies Grill for the first time.

Food: The menu offers a wide selection ranging from Chicken, Fish, Duck, Beef and Lamb. So there should be something for everyone. Chateaubriand was cooked very nice – soft, tender, meaty but like other reviewers have mentioned this is too basic a signature dish. I was left wanting a tad bit more. The potato and leek cake were a nice treat though. For dessert we ordered Sticky date pudding and a Crème Broulee both of them were equally nice.

Ambience: It started off quietly with just a few tables being occupied but then a wave of business people and a large party of World Youth Day came and dined which added some more atmosphere to the place.

Service: No complaints. They were alert and quick to our needs. Maybe they read some of the post and rectified some of their failings.

Value: All in all it is a satisfactory restaurant at a great location. One of the busier dining venues along with Waterfront, the others was crying for customers. We were paying about $45pp including a bottle of wine. Would I return? Probably but not too soon.

Consistent with its other sister shop in Cabramatta except I usually choose this one for family outing as parking is easier and it is slightly roomier. Similar decor to the Cabramatta shop and yet to spot the difference in food.

Their 7 style beef is quite interesting with its combination of congee, bbq, sizzling beef, beef balls, etc. I have dined here for lunch, dinner and supper and will continue to do so. Payment is cash only but there is an ATM a few meters down.

Service: There have been a lot of bad commentaries on their service. Sure their
English is not fantastic but I find that they do try.

I started off going to Bau Truong at Canley Heights on numerouns occasions and still prefer the CH location due to ease of parking. But the Cabramatta branch has captured a good share of the ultra competitive Vietnamese food market.

Pho is good so is their savoury pancake (banh xeo). Other things that I have tried and recommended is Bun bo hue (spicy pork noodle soup), prawn and crab noodle soup and their broken rice is also good.

Don't expect much of an ambience - think of it as a pit stop for good. Walk in, order, eat, pay and walk out. But as mentioned by other reviewers it does have modern feel to it unlike other Vietnamese outlets. Service is usually with a smile.

Purpose for visit: Celebrating a dear friend's 30th Birthday 8pm Saturday night.
I have read a few of the reviews and there are certainly some mix responses. I didn't have the fish and chips so I won't be able to comment on its value.

Food: I had the duck which I quite like and my other companions had the beef pie, atlantic salmon, chicken - by far I think I choose the best dish on the menu assuming you like duck. It was a healthy serving portion with prune, potato and pear (interestingly the 3 P's). Dessert was quite nice as well - Tiramisu, Dark chocolate tart.

Ambience: On a cold Autumn night - though we were dining inside I wish they would have kept the door closed but this isn't possible when there is outside dining as well. Clientele for that evening was a mature crowd and a young family.

Service: Good. professional as expected by the price of the food. A friendly and young front of house staff that made us feel at home.

Value: For mains, dessert and a bottle of red wine it came to about $50pp. Not bad for a mid-price cafe - it is a nice local eatery that seems to have a loyal following.

Purpose of visit: Friday afternoon business lunch. A very nice cafe at the front of MCA building, location is marvellous - Circular Quay harbour at the front, Opera House within sight and streams of people just soaking up our beautiful harbour.

Food: A simple menu that cross both the land and sea, it offers a nice selection. Our table selected 2 Jewfish, 2 ducks and I had the Rib eye. All were professionally presented and tasted as good as it looks.

Ambience: If you like noise then come here whilst school is on. There are endless children on excursion to MCA and its surroundings which adds a special atmosphere. I heard another table comment that the background noise resembles dining next to a school playground. For us we didn't mind.

Service: A professional group of waiters that was consistent throughout the dining experience. Well done boys and girls.

Verdict: Good enough to try but probably not week-in, week-out.

Cafe Sydney is such a pretty place to dine. Be it for a business lunch, romantic dinner or birthday gathering - it is truly a venue for any worthy occasion. For me Friday lunch was my experience.

Food: Nice variety of food catering for land and sea based ingredients. My friend had the grilled Tuna and I chose the grilled Lamb though the Wagyu beef special was very tempting. We also tried the naan bread as just an entree to kickstart out meal. From observations the naan bread is made on site at the corner of the kitchen - FRESH! The Tuna was a bit of a let down but the Lamb really rocks! Med-rare juicy and flavoursome. For dessert we had a Vanilla pod infused ice cream with fig which was on the specials menu. I dont think it will make it to the standard menu because it sounds better than it taste.

Ambience: The view! Soak up the VIEW! Be it day or night, the view is just as spectaclar. A place to impress. Being Friday lunch, there was quite a few business people about, tourist as well and group celebrating a lady's birthday.

Service: Friendly, warm, professional. A good team of staff from Reception through to Waiters. A very good front of house management - did you expect anthing else?

Value: For me it will be a place of special occasions. I would like to say that this my usual Sunday lunch spot - but I would end up broke albeit with a SMILE. Overall an enjoyable experience.

Food: Nice variety of food catering for Eastern and Western people. By that I mean there are Eastern specialties like some of the fish maw soup, Egg white seafood tofu but Western like Honey King Prawn, Lemon chicken. It has a good variety of seafood as well, Pipis, Lobsters, Crabs, Fish, etc. Overall I think the food is good enough to rival eateries in other more established suburbs.

Ambience: Plain and simple. Not a place that I would expect to come for a wedding dinner, but the quality of food is certainly good enough for most festive occasions. Service: Couldn't fault it for the 3 times that I have been there to date. I've eaten there with a group of 4 and a group of 16. Service was good to us most times.

Value: Eat well without breaking the bank. A good value restaurant that will no doubt have repeated clientele. Heck I am one of them. Please check it out.

Hidden Gem - Undiscovered treasure. Whatever you want to call it this place is small but great value for money. Considering it is opposite the QVB you would expect pricing to be a mistake - but it isn't.... it is just darn good value.

Beef tataki, Chicken Karaage Bento box and Sashimi don were our order on Election Day'07. Food is great. Service is friendly. I will definitely be back. Clientele was a mix bunch...... couples breaking from shopping, a table of girls and a pair of elderly citizens. Feasting on good food without breaking the bank.

Give it a go.

I've been here a few times, usually for group bookings of 10-16 people. Very accommodating in terms of large tables and/or with babies. Special note: Serving portions are quite large! The portions are quite decent and priced at a reasonable rate. Half pork ribs and half lamb ribs are the way to go to ensure a thorough rib experience.

Visit www.castlehillrsl.com.au to view the menu.

Parking wise it is quite easy being an RSL club but on certain nights it can get quite packed in the parking lot. Other than ribs they do have a fish and chip option and Portugese/BBQ Chicken.....not bad. The standout is the Ribs. Please try ..... please Enjoy!.
