Just rating the food: Good Malaysian.

My dad is Malaysian and I love Malaysian food. Not easy to find a decent Malaysian restaurant in Sydney these days. Friends recommended this little hideaway in quiet Croydon. We turned up without a booking with a party of 10 for Sunday lunch at 1pm and were able to get a table straight away.

The Nasi Lemak was the standout dish, delicious. The Roti Canai was average, Mamak in Chinatown does this better. The Char Kway Teow was average, Petaling St in Chinatown does this better. Chicken Satay, Lamb Curry and Hainanese Chicken Rice were yum but other places do these better.

Overall, our party left full and satisfied. Definitely worth a visit if you are craving Malaysian makan!

The Tearoom is located in a historic sandstone building surrounded by Sydney Harbour National Park. The covered verandah has commanding views over Sydney Harbour and Sydney CBD skyline. Watch the seaplanes take off from Rose Bay. Amazing outlook over the widest part of the harbour!

Now the food: Good Modern Australian.

I had the Prawn and Squid Ink Ravioli with tomato, ginger and coriander sauce. This was well-cooked and the seafood was fresh. Others had the Grilled Mackerel with beetroot puree and the Baked Barramundi with homemade gnocchi. They enjoyed their meals.

This restaurant is more well known for their High Teas and are doing a roaring trade! The staff were very accommodating, we turned up without a booking and they squeezed us onto the verandah with stunning views!

Go for a walk after lunch up the winding road and discover the fantastic lookout. Drive around the National Park and enjoy the spectacular views. This whole area is a secret hideaway tucked in a quiet corner of the harbour. This restaurant is for special occasions with prices to match.

Just rating the food: Good Italian.

Wanted to try this place as it was one of the few Inner West restaurants that made it into the Good Food Guide 2012.

The Blue Swimmer Crab Spaghettini with chilli was delicious with subtle flavours. The Pappardelle with Wild Mushroom Ragu was too greasy and salty. The Fish of the Day (Swordfish) was fresh and well-cooked. Homemade bread was yummy and slightly doughy.

Popular lunchtime spot in bayside park close to Rhodes Business Park. We visited early on a weekday and this restaurant quickly filled up with enthusiastic diners.

Just rating the food: Average Thai

Wanted to try this place because it was one of the few Chinatown area restaurants that made it into the Good Food Guide 2012. Ordered the Green Papaya Salad with dried shrimp, possibly this was the wrong selection. The dried shrimp were rock hard and almost inedible. The salad had a strong garlic aftertaste that remained in my mouth almost 24 hours later. Pity the colleagues of anyone who eats this at lunch and has a business meeting afterwards. Wow, so much garlic!

Also ordered the chicken satay which came with peanut sauce and was delicious.
This Thai food definitely has interesting flavours. They are doing a roaring trade with diners queuing up to get in even before 12 midday.

Just rating the food: Great Modern Australian Bakery.

Featured in Good Food Guide 2012 and wanted to try it as we travel down the South Coast frequently. Ordered the Pork Confit on Sourdough with Apples, Brazil Nuts and Celery - delicious! Also ordered some Sourdough with a selection of dips, carrot and cumin, hommus and beetroot, also delicious!

Finished with an Apple Tart with buttery puff pastry, yum! Great coffee! Place was busy for lunch with customers lingering from breakfast. Food was worth the wait!

My dad is Malaysian Chinese and my family have been wanting to try this place after it got a good review in SMH last year. Just rating the food: Average Malaysian.

The chilli popiah was delicious. The roti canai was good but Mamak in Chinatown does this better. The curries that came with the roti canai were yum but there was not much meat. They have the flavours right and the food tastes fresh.

Revisited with other people and the standard has dropped. Food was disappointing and the roti canai wasn't as good, they didn't include curry dipping sauce like Mamak in Chinatown.

I'm Asian and love spicy foods. Just rating the food: Good Thai.

Delicious Massaman Curry, Green Curry with Chicken and Pad See Ew (similar to Singaporean Char Kway Teow). Enjoyed the delicate but not overpowering flavours and the creaminess of the curries. Generous servings and not overpriced. Have been here several times over several years and the quality of the food is consistently good.

I'm Chinese and love spicy foods. Just rating the food: Good Chinese (Sichuanese). Was interested in this restaurant as it was the only one in Burwood to be included in the Good Food Guide 2012. Tried the spicy Ma Po Tofu with rice. Delicious and not too sweet. Huge serving! Couldn't finish, asked for takeaway container. Would like to try other dishes and am reading reviews for other recommendations.

I'm Chinese and love char siew. Just rating the food: Average Chinese BBQ meats.

This restaurant close to Burwood station has BBQ meats hanging in the window. Asked for the Double Mixed BBQ plate. Was given fatty char siew and boney BBQ Duck. There are many BBQ meat competitors in the same street. Worth trying others!

I'm from SE Asia and love all kinds of Asian foods. Just rating the food: Average Vietnamese.

Goi Cuon was fresh but a bit chewy. Lemongrass beef vermicelli salad did not have much lemongrass or mint in it. Thankfully, vermicelli was served warm unlike some other thoughtless Vietnamese restaurants. Generous serving and we had the option to add our own sauces. Popular place with super-quick service.
