Went for a nice pub dinner which was a mistake. Won't go back unless they re-jig the menu and get a new chef. Cold meals, tasteless and poorly presented. Not the place to eat but maybe eat slop as a uni student (which was observed). Aaaarrghh.

Disappointing. Not sure what they're trying to be, but pretty sure they've failed. Food was bordering on ok but I'd prefer a steak at the Northern up the road. Prices not reflective of quality and layout is strange and not inviting. Staff like to talk to each other rather than serve.

Fine dining? I'm not so sure. Very overpriced. Food fair but could get better at the Great Northern for half the price, plus with a better atmosphere. Staff average and all in all left wondering how they could stuff up such a prime located pub.

What a shocker. Worst service I have ever had (rude is an understatement). Food is McCains style frozen schitzel. Almost asked for a refund but couldn't get past the screaming kids rolling on the floor. Never again.

Unbelievable food. Best japanese ever. Ordered seconds and then thirds for our table. No wonder it's full every night.

Wish we had a pub like this near us. No overly trendy menu, just great pub food (and I mean great). Pricing is very reasonable, and the staff that looked after us were spot on, quick, ready to please and always smiling. The pub manages to combine old school English charm in a big, clean building. Love the panelling, leather lounges, lighting and historical photos.

Beergarden was sunny but shaded as we sat down, and as the night wore on we could see how popular the place is with locals. There wee queues at bar and bistro, but still served in a flash. My cajun chicken sandwich was taste tingling, and others enjoyed their food as much. I come from Surry Hills and it's good to see Sydney still knows how to do a real pub.

Tried the Northern again after a few years living in London, back on the north shore and pleasantly surprised by this pub. Looks really smart inside, warm and inviting but clean as a whistle (you can always judge by the toilets). We were watching a rugby game and atmosphere was great, big crowd but room to sit, good sound and huge plasmas (but still felt intimate).

Food was perfect for the occasion, try the parmigiana and the Herb and Garlic Prawn Spaghetti. The girls on the bar were chatty and fast. They looked like they actually enjoyed being at work! Happy hour was a nice surprise, and all in all we'll be back to watch the Tahs next week!

Tried this pub on receommendation of a friend. Went with my girlfriend and another couple. We had a great night and couldn't be more impressed. The food is not tetsuya's, but as far as pub food goes I've never had better. Try the steak sandwich and the lamb salad. The whole place is spotless, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a cosy retro pub, but in reality the place is huge. Great ambience, music and decor. Staff were great, smiling and chirpy (and smoking hot!). Overall a classy joint.
