I took my husband here for dinner before Christmas for his birthday. The staff were lovely without being intrusive, the food was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
I would return to Assiette with my husband or with a group of four and I'd recommend it highly.

We had lunch here last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were terrific and friendly, the food was excellent and the room was lovely. We would have liked to sit in the garden but it was pouring, so no problem.
We were advised when we arrived (without a booking) that there would be a 20 minute delay for food as a bus group had just come in. that was fine - we appreciated the forewarning.
This is a terrific place for lunch. I've enjoyed dinner here before and remember the same quality of food and friendly, efficient service. We'll be back!

We tried this restaurant recently when staying in Katoomba. We were blown away by the view at first, and the people were very nice. The entrees were lovely, but then things started to slide.
We waited and waited for our mains and watched the people around us being served. Those who arrived half an hour after us were served before us.
We asked about our mains and were told, "Oh sorry, there has been some confusion," which I guess means that they lost our order. So we'd finished the bottle of wine before our mains arrived, which we pointed out and they ignored.
The food here is very good. However the price is high and, given the status of this restaurant, we would expect them to make some gesture when they'd clearly made a mistake. Unfortunately we won't eat here again nor will we recommend it to friends and associates visiting the Blue Mountains.

My partner and I ate at the Rooster last week. We'd been looking forward to it for weeks but were sadly disappointed. While the venue is terrific, the service is disorganised, to say the least. There appears to be no communication between the front of house and the kitchen.
Our entree was terrific, but our main course was ruined by the absence of eating utensils. My partner sat and watched his steak go cold while he waited for a knife (the waiter had removed it when we ordered, but not brought anything back.) I asked for a knife but it took ten minutes to arrive. The vegetables were also overcooked and fell apart.
When we asked for our bill, we also asked the waiter to call us a cab. The cab arrived, but the bill hadn't, and when it did we had been overcharged (one price on the menu, another random price in the staff member's mind.)
We were told that only one person in the place could use the cash register and that they were busy. So I waited in the cab for about five minutes while my partner sorted out the bill and paid it.
In all, it was a disappointing experience. Sydney prices but a complete lack of service and value. We won't be back!

Three times now we're ventured over to Balmain to Bistro Bruno, the first time just after it opened in July, and the second in late August for dessert and coffee after dinner somewhere else.
Both of those times we were been impressed by the service and the absence of a 'bad table' in the restaurant. With three different spaces to choose from, there is something for everyone and every group, no matter the size. What I think does need more credit is the food! In particular, the excellent dessert menu, thoughtful and limited options, and they're all delicious. We were pleased to see, on a recent (October) visit that they have a new menu, but have retained one or two from the original. We will definitely be back, often!
