Went here for a staff Christmas party. The tables were crammed in with other tables of 8-10 (seemed to be other Christmas party revellers). The room was deafeningly noisy, you could not have a conversation with the person next to you without shouting.

We took the $35 banquet which wasn't anything special, the food choices all seemed to be on the sweet side except for one "combination" dish, when I asked our waiter if the "combination" dish included pork (one of our diners didn't eat pork) he said very dismissively "yes, yes, yes, pork, pork!" And after looking at the dish I don't believe there was any pork in it, just chicken and beef.

Drinks took forever to come out and attracting the attention of the waiters made you feel like you were imposing. It might be different at quieter times of the year, but for me, never again!

Summer House, Fairfield

Came to Summer House during their weekday $28 for 3 course special. We were not disappointed! Very worthwhile to try this. Not a huge selection of food (3 choices each for entree, main and dessert) but the food was really nice, hubby going for the rump while I had the chicken. What I like about the restaurants here in Fairfield RSL is the decor tends to be a talking point for some reason. The Summer House is a beautifully decorated room with great ambience. Definitely coming back for this special again.

Went here for the first time last night and were pleasantly surprised, have heard conflicting comments about this restaurant. We started with pork and prawn rolls which were so beautifully fresh and more-ish with a nutty hoisin sauce. Then chicken pho which again was bursting with freshness. The service here was excellent, very attentive and went out of their way to please. Only downfall is .. the price. Three of us went here and it cost $130 for 2 entree pork & prawn rolls, 3 pho and one bottle of wine. And we didn't choose a pricey bottle of wine either. I think we will come back though, it was a really nice meal.

Orchid House Thai Restaurant, Edensor Park

Great Thai restaurant. The staff are courteous and welcoming. The restaurant itself is very clean and I recommend the golden quail and salt and pepper squid, all the curries are brilliant too. The location is pretty ordinary but there is plenty of parking.

Carrington Grand Dining Room, The, Katoomba

Went here on the weekend with a large group and while the ambience (old world decor, piano player) was nice, the food was OK-ish but definitely not worth the high prices. A friend's meal was completely forgotten about and they were offered a free dessert for the mistake. Wine list was quite good. One hotel employee at the end of the night was very rude and when he wanted us to leave even though there were no indications of when guests must leave the premises. I felt like an old drunk being shunted off, but we were far from that. Won't go back, simply because of him.

Really nice Indian food, butter chicken is excellent. Portions are a little on the small side when sharing with 4 people. Staff are very friendly and courteous. The decor needs to be improved, the restaurant is basically a big beige box with a couple of flat screen TVs.

Food here was fantastic and plentiful, we had the banquet between four. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Was fun to see the bollywood party next door, we will be back.

Nice food in a surprising location. Presentation of both the restaurant and the food was lovely. A little on the pricey side however.

Probably the best Italian food in the area. I think the key to good Italian food is that it is not rushed, meats are prepared and simmered for a long time, flavours infuse, pasta perfectly al dente, and the overall experience is one of passion for food. You get that at Candeloris. Yes it does cost a bomb. But very worth it, because you just know your meal has been expertly prepared. I had the crab and lobster ravioli which was fantastic, other diners had veal which just fell off the bone. Definitely coming back here for a special occasion some time.

A busy, bustling restaurant full of local families. It's only unfortunate that the parking is abysmal. Great food with little touches that you don't normally see in Thai food. Chef to be credited for being creative, food is always excellent here.
