I wish I could shout from the rooftops how fantastic this little restaurant in Kings Cross is. Grant King is a master in the kitchen and I would say is producing some of the most flavourful, playful and beautiful food in Sydney at the moment. This is food that you quite simply could not make yourself at home.
Everything from the savoury courses to the desserts is faultless.
We have been to all of the hatted restaurants in Sydney. We have been to a number of the San Pellegrino top 50 in the world from the USA to Japan and Europe and what is happening in the kitchens of Gastro Park is there. I am not someone who will eat anything just because a chef has a famous name or awards. I love good food that tastes sublime, otherwise, it isn't worth the calories. Gastro park is worth the calories and then some. I can't wait to go back for a third outing very soon.
If you go, have the 'Pumpkin Gnocchi'. You will understand when you taste it and you will thank me for telling you to get something you may not usually try, I should say that I love meat, but the gnocchi is something I dream about.

I have lived in Breakfast Point for a few years and we have been to the Olive Kitchen a few times. It is so convenient, but each time we go there, we are disappointed by the expense. The food is often lovely, but it is far too over-priced for the style of restaurant.
I understand that they would have to pay horribly high prices for the lease on the venue. It is a lovely spot! But they have obviously made the decision to only open for breakfast and lunch (they did open for dinner the first summer they were there) and they close over Christmas to their detriment. It must be difficult to make the books balance, but diners should not have to bear the cost.

We went back as we had a new menu delivered to our house and thought we would give it another chance. Sadly, the food was mediocre and I will never be able to eat soft shell crab again after the smell coming from the plate they served. Prawns uncooked in Pad Thai and the noodles were a sloppy mess. Yes it is cheap, but pay a few more dollars and go elsewhere.
I could not in all conscience recommend this place. There are many other Thai restaurants in Concord to choose from and they are generally stunning on flavour, texture, service (and smell).

We loved everything about Becasse. We had the degustation menu and as we don't drink alcohol, we complimented it with sparkling water. They didn't blink when we asked for diet coke prior to the meal. Lovely service. It would have to be one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere in the world. Each course offered something unique. The bread plate and accompanying condiments were stunning.
I love a restaurant where even bread is selected to compliment the meal. Quite simply sublime tastes and textures. The pre-dessert was out-of-this-world. We are eating our way through the top restaurants in Sydney and this is winning by far! If you haven't been here and you love to experience food (not simply eating) then you simply must try it. Having made a pact that we would not double back to any of the restaurants until we had tried them all, we have already set a date for our return. It was that wonderful.

Sadly, the Emperors New Clothes of Fine dining. Loud and crass. Everyone pretending to feel terribly trendy, but not saying how disappointing the food truly is. Everything was bland and uninspiring and my husband and I were terribly disappointed. Perhaps we should have gone into it with more of an expectation of a pub-style meal and then we would have enjoyed the overall experience. Sorry Mr Hemmes, but this is the second bad experience at one of your so-called fine dining restaurants in a month and we just can't be bothered trying the others.
