Poor Food and Overpriced. My Wife and I went here last night. Bill # 3026739
The prices are equal to that of a much more upmarket restaurant whereas the restaurant itself was much more equal to pub food in a bad pub.
We started with the Firecracker Wings which were actually quite nice and set our hopes high that the quality would continue. We only had one drink each as that was all we were offered.
The Ribs advertised on the menu as "slow cooked for 8 hours for that ‘fallin’ off the bone sensation" were in fact difficult to remove from the bone and I needed to saw at them with my steak knife. The meat was dry and bone dry crusty at the end there was also some bubbles of fat around the bone ends which of course means that they were re-heated in a Microwave.
The "silverskin" membrane from under the ribs was not completely removed, about 20% of it was still there and is not pleasant to eat. The meat was also tough which should be basically impossible regardless how poor a cut of meat after an alleged 8 hours of cooking. Spectacularly Disappointing Ribs...
The ribs came with mashed potato, dehydrated mashed potatoes like Deb... The dish costs $42.95 and can't even come with fresh potato? Also, for $40 you can get a full rack of Beef Ribs from "The Fox" in South Brisbane which have more meat, sauce, sides and they also actually taste good.
Onion Rings were $5.50 were frozen not fresh and tasted the same as those you can get at Hungry Jacks.
My Wife had the Wagu Rump "Prime Diamond Cut" ordered Med Rare and what she received was definitely a piece of Rump but was not Wagyu there was no marbling and there were no caramel flavours. It was also cooked Medium. I am almost completely certain that this was a basic Rump. Furthermore, this Wagyu pretender cost $37.95 and the Garlic Sauce (which didn't even taste like garlic!) was and Extra $2.95.
The Breakfast Creek does a 300day Grain Finished Wagyu Rump, $34.95 and includes Sauce... The Norman Hotel does a Free Range Grass Fed Wagyu Rump, $35.00 and Includes Sauce. You charged me $40.90 for a Standard Rump with Sauce.
To top it off when I went to pay and talk to who I believed to be the senior staff, I stood in front of her for 10-15 seconds until she said "yep, what do you want" to a server standing next to here and then started walking off to the kitchen and said "back in a minute darl" when realising that I wanted to pay she pointed me at the bar where I paid and left.
I was not asked how my meal was and I didn't care to hang around and tell them as they had failed on so many opportunities to ask and I had just paid $114.80 for some bad pub grub and two drinks. Sadly I will not be back and do not recommend.
