We booked an apartment 6 months in advance for the Saturday of the Tour Down Under as we had a wedding to attend Saturday night in McLaren Vale. We were phoned by the owner, at 12:00 pm on Saturday to advise that we would not be able to check in at 2:00 pm as they were having a party there and would still be occupying the room.

So the check in time was 3:00 pm. We arrived at the apartment at 3:00 pm and our apartment was full of people, with a band occupying the carport attached to our apartment. She made us feel like we had done something wrong but actually turning up. She was rude, told us that if we needed to get ready for the wedding that we could shut the bedroom door while they continued their party. She had the nerve to ask me what I thought of the apartment - isn't it lovely? Yes it would be nice if it wasn't full of people that hadn't paid to use it!

The cleaner came through while we were getting ready for the wedding but only did half the job. The floors were sticky, there was dirt and drink on the lounge and recliners and the table was filthy. We then had some random guy walk into the apartment thinking the party was still going. Meanwhile the band members got cross at us because we had parked in the carport blocking them from removing their drum kit. She kept telling us "well we did have a world class event here today you know". I swear if she said that one more time I would have punched her in the face. Her only compensation to us, was an extra hour on our checkout time - and when asked she made that sound like we were being ballsy - "well I will have to check my diary".

So rude. We paid $300 to stay there for one night and this is the service we received. I will never stay here again, and I will be making sure to tell everyone we know not to stay there either. I cant believe how rude the owner was to us. Not to mention she was drunk while doing all of this. If she had wanted to use the apartments then she shouldn't have booked them out to paying customers. The fact that we were only given an hour extra check out time was salt to the wound really. Stay there at your peril.
