Came here for brekkie through a Living Social deal. The actual restaurant is a little cramped and the chairs could do with a clean. We ordered two vegetarian brekkies with a freshly squeezed OJ. The actual breakfast itself was well cooked and fresh, though the grilled tomato was missing. The waiter apologised stating that the chef had forgotten to include them as "tomatoes are expensive at the moment"... hmmmm. The freshly squeezed OJ tasted suspiciously like reconstituted bottled OJ. Overall, while the actual cooked brekkie was well done, the "cheapening" will make us think twice about returning. Brewhaha next door may be the better option.

This place is pretty good value. They do $33.90 banquets (min 2 ppl) with mixed entree, 3 curries (2 being meat), naan, basmati rice and dessert! That's a lot of food! We opted to show a bit more restraint and went for a south indian lamb curry and a vegetable one (can't remember the exact names) with rice and kasmeri naan. Service was quick and friendly. The food was tasty and had a nice home cooked taste about it. The location leaves a bit of be desired (down stairs from street level with no fans or air con), but all in all pretty good indian.

Have been coming to Mado on and off for a few years but we only ever come here for breakfast. The last visit in Dec 2010 was our best yet. I'm not sure if it was because there was a food safari going on at the back, but the lentil and yoghurt soups (the yoghurt in particular) were the best they've been. On other past visits, they've only had only one of the two available, and usually a little watered down.

On our latest visit, both were available and were the best we'd had here. The pastries we usually order were tasty and fresh and we left there feeling full and satisfied. We also spotted Maeve O'Meara who popped in to wish the properietor and food safari presenters a merry xmas!

Have eaten here on many occasions and find the food tasty and reliable. I love malaysian food and my faves are the sambal prawns, hainanese chicken rice (thigh please!) and the beef rendang. I also make a point of ordering the house lemon iced tea every time I dine here. For such a no frills bustle eatery, one would expect the pricing to be more accurately reflected but those flavours will keep bringing me back - love that lemon tea! I could drink that stuff every day.

Have been here twice for lunch. The first time we ordered the bibibab in the stone bowl - very tasty and loved how the stone bowl made the rice at the bottom all crispy. Side dishes were very nice, particularly the mini crispy shrimp. Second lunch was some months later and went for the set lunch menu of beef. Food was very tasty and again the side dishes enhance the dining experience. Have never left hungry. Recommended for a solid choice for lunch after a hard days shopping at Westfields!

Dropped in to pick up two charcoal chickens for a picnic we were heading to with friends. What a pleasant surprise! The chicken was succulent and tasty with that delectable charcoal smokiness. Even after reheating the left overs in the oven the following day, the breast particularly was still tender and flavoursome without the dreaded dry stringiness characteristic of chicken breast.

Service was friendly and helpful. Sure, it's just a take away chicken joint, but so glad to have found a local for good quality, tasty BBQ chook! Forget Wild Caktus, this is the place to get your chicken!

Came here for a mid-week dinner with hubby. We ordered the spider sushi (soft shell crab sushi) and the special lobster sushi and a serving of grilled eel on rice. Talk about a lot of food for two people. We certainly "waddled" out of there. Food was fresh, tasty, flavourful and very well presented. Yum yum!! Service was friendly and helpful. Shame about the location, but they've made it as nice as possible.

We initially dined here with friends several years ago and loved the food. Feeling in the mood for French cuisine, and with all our locals booked out on a Saturday night, we secured a last minute 9.30 pm reservation at Le Pelican. So glad we came back after all these years! My entree of steamed zucchini flowers with snapper brandade and beetroot carpaccio was delicate and lovely. My husband's entree of chanterelles with a slow poached egg was hearty and tasty, though was a little on the salty side.

Our mains were lovely, those again, a little over seasoned with the salt. Feeling quite full, we shared the dessert of Lemon Vacherin, a lovely way to end the night. Our hostess was friendly and warm and we felt very much at home in this little gem of a restaurant!

Stumbled across this place recently. The pasta (housemade) was lovely, soft and silky with 5 jumbo sized scallops. The coconut based sauce spiked with lemongrass and the sweetest tasting chillies was lovely. At $25 for a main, I found this to be excellent value. I was dining alone, and the wait staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing.

I was served quickly and not rushed at all, though I think the ladies sitting near me had to wait for their meals (?? - I overheard them ask the waitress rather grumpily how much longer their food would be), they were there before I arrived and when I left, they still hadn't been served their food (?) - other than that, I enjoyed my meal and look forward to going back on a return trip to Melbourne!

Updated - I revisited The Mill in April on another business trip to Melbourne. I went back to the squid ink linguine which I enjoyed so much on my first visit, and was sorely disappointed. The linguine was thick with parts of the pasta stuck together. The sauce was tasteless, at least the scallops were cooked well. I had ordered the pate with housemade brioche for entree, the brioche was too sweet and crumbly and the pate was cold straight out of the fridge, I actually enjoyed the complimentary bread with oil more! Overall, I don't think I'll be back.

We're fans of the Billus@Harris Park from way back, we always go the thali plates. However, being residents of Westleigh, we thought we'd give the Epping venue a try one night after work on Wednesday. The restaurant was virtually empty when we dined, with just another two diners and a family of 3 eating in the restaurant. Though there seemed to be a few take aways going on. We ordered the non-veg thali, the veg dosa and a chicken dish for entree (I think it was a mali something....).

Hubby really enjoyed the chicken entree (I didn't mind it but felt the flavours were not as complex). Loved the thali, the butter chicken curry was my fave as it was not too sweet and had a lovely cardamom flavour throughout. Really enjoyed the dosa as well, I thought the veg filling and accompanying "dips" was beautifully spiced. At just over $35 for two, the value was fantastic.
