Unfortunately, the service lets down this restaurant. We are repeat visitors from Sydney, both to Port Macquarie and this restaurant. Service has been previously been identified as poor but on this occasion it has deteriorated. We waited to order, we waited for cutlery, we asked repeatedly for spoons and waited. Given that the restaurant was not overly full it would appear that service has fallen even further. I doubt we will return next trip.

How refreshing to find a Thai restaurant of quality in the heart of Broadbeach. The atmosphere, staff and food were up their with the very best. As visitors we will return again!

Visiting Gold Coast from Sydney and so pleased to find this restaurant newly opened (by several months). The food was delightful and the staff, friendly and courteous. Our entree chicken momo was outstanding, as was the main course, of lamb rara. Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended and stands out as a place worth visiting at Broadbeach.

I'm convinced there are better options than this restaurant in Lygon Street. My partner and I visited this restaurant and when we asked for an extra chicken skewer to make it 6 per serve as were sharing, we were told "no that can't be done". As my partner and I are don't eat big portions, we quite often split a dish between us and this has never been a problem before in having an extra piece of a serving.

Also when we ordered, the waiter came back and simply dumped in the middle of the table, the plates, napkins and cutlery for us to set up. Strange! Needless to say, our first time and last.

What can we say, an excellent restaurant. We visit Peregian Beach each summer and this is a new addition from last year. The food was perfect from the first mouth full through to dessert. As Sydney boys we appreciate fine dining and we can honestly say you won't be disappointed.

This has been our regular place to have a lunchtime treat and was known to us for the nice food and attentive service. What went wrong yesterday? Arrived at 1:10 pm ordered coffee and sandwich. Coffee arrived and so did the napkin and knife and fork then we waited! and waited! and waited! We had staff walk passed but not one of them stopped or showed any interest.

Then at 1:55 pm exasperated I asked about our order and another 5 minutes passed before we were told, that somehow the order hadn't been entered into the computer correctly and the order was lost. There was no initiative to resolve the matter so we left with the declaration that we would not be paying for the coffee.

Bitton, what has gone wrong? Deeply disappointed and the way that we were allowed to walk out without our lunch and drive to another destination to dine has left a lingering bad memory. We scored you as awful for food, how else could we score this experience? We never, got to have one bite! Not sure if we will be game to return.

We are Newtown Thai food regulars. Having eaten at almost all the King St restaurants, we have been to Chedi Thai on more than six occasions. Many of the comments raised by other reviewers are correct and supported, however, there are some significant short comings experienced in our dining experience last night.

Despite the friendly staff, the service was poor. We needed to ask to place our order, then waited what seemed like for ages for meals to arrive. Given that we arrived at 9 pm when the restaurant was only 50% full, it did not seem to be due to capacity issues.

We were disappointed at the serving sizes of all aspects of the meal. Our two servings of brown rice came in a small bowl, comparable to a single serve and the curry half the size of that in equivalent Thai restaurants in Newtown. The food quality was okay, although not exceptional. Therefore, value for money and quality of service could not elevate this restaurant above other Thai restaurants on King St.

Response from Management:
Thank you for your review of Chedi Thai. It is disappointing to read that any customer, especially a regular who has eaten at Chedi Thai on more that 6 occasions, was unhappy with their last dining experience.

In our defense I would like to point out that we serve both white and brown rice in unlimited portions; until the customer is satisfied. I can only surmise that our staff was in error and did not ask if you wanted additional servings.

As to the serving size of the curry, I can't compare our serving size with other Thai restaurants in Newtown as the quality of Thai along King Street varies considerably. However, I agree that at times our curry Chef can be less generous with what she serves. All the ingredients in a particular curry are portion controlled but it is the curry sauce which can vary.

Recently ate here with my partner for the first time and must say the food seemed very fresh and quite reasonable in value. The presentation of the restaurant is very inviting. It was a mid week so had no booking and were quickly seated. As mentioned by others in the reviews, service isn't their strong suit. Ironically our BYO wine was opened quickly!

We are locals and first time here. Excellent alternative to all that Newtown has to offer. Dumplings amazing, duck and cabbage rolls awesome! Worth a visit for sure! Having never tried Polish before, we are sold for sure!

Whilst not regular patrons at Chez Maurice Et Linda, we have dined often over 8 years. Over these years have held this restaurant in high regard. Our last visit was a little disappointing, Beef Wellington was over cooked and tough and the duck was dry. Most noticeable is that in 8 years of coming to this restaurant the menu has never changed (there needs to be more creativity).

It sure does have a reputation for treating people rudely who have had cancel for whatever reason (as told by friends). Yes it is a popular place, however, we would not be in a hurry to return.
