I've tried their cupcakes a few times and have come away disappointed each time. I think they are expensive for what they are. They look good, but the times I have gone the actual cake bit of the cupcake has been dry and not very tasty and the icing has been quite bland. I reckon to spend the same amount per person and get a gorgeous little tart or cake from DJ's food hall. In short, I think these cakes are more about style than substance.

A fave for breakfast on the go and takeaway sandwiches for lunch. Friendly staff who remember your name and your coffee after a few visits. Can still get a coffee for $2.50 which isn't always easy in the CBD. Haven't gone there for dinner, though its often packed so I assume its pretty good.

I only have positive things to say about the Summer Hill store (haven't been to the city store so maybe that's where all this stuff about rude staff is coming from). I ordered 50 traditional and 50 gourmet babycakes for a large afternoon tea and could not have been happier with the reception the cakes got. I ordered 10 varieties in varying quantities which looked fantastic laid out for guests. Having tried cupcakes from other specialty stores and come away very disappointed, I was worried this would be a similar scenario.
Other places I've been to the actual cake part has been dry and not tasty and the icing has looked pretty but just tasted like sweet butter. But this place was a real find. The cakes look great (especially the gourmet ones, and of those the rocky road was the stand out winner) and they actually taste like their descriptions. They may be small but they are quite moist and rich so you don't need to go over the top with quantity.
When I went in to try different flavours before I placed my order, the staff were busy but friendly and helpful and willing to disclose their favourite flavours and the most popular ones. And when I placed my order they were fairly quick and efficient. Ok, I lied. 2 very small negatives: The coffee I had was a touch on the luke warm side and they charge a 2% fee for using a credit card.
