Both the trout pate and the BLT were excellent, and so were the chips. Prices may seem a bit steep considering the only menu is at the counter, and that's where you have to order also. But the portions are so large, I'd conisder this place value for money. The lovely setting is just a bonus.

Parea Greek Tavern, Kogarah

Better than average Greek tavern. As others have said, this place is ideal for a large party (which makes sense, given the definition of the word "parea" on the restaurant wall).

The noisy acoustics would be my only complaint. I don't know what this place used to be like. Last week was my first visit. But I liked the way the roastery is combined into the cafe, and the coffee and croissant were both excellent, really excellent.

I agree with the person below that although the coffee is spectacular (perhaps, a bit fruity for my tastes), the atmosphere is really lacking. I can only assume there was never an intention for this roastery to become a cafe

I'm really fond of this place for breakfast but can't help feeling it's a just a touch overpriced. The bircher muesli I had was great, but about half the size I'd expected, and 9 bucks for what amounts to a small juice isn't very competitive either.

This Marrickville operation isn't intended to replicate Bau Truong at Cabramatta. It's a slow dining, upmarket affair, not a fast food cheap and cheerful. There's an entrees menu (tapas if you like) designed for sharing, and that's from where we chose most of our dishes. Beautifully presented, delicious morsels. The beef in betel leaves was probably the stand-out dish, though the oysters were excellent also.

I agree the music makes it a bit loud to converse here, but the food and wines were all sensational, and the service is friendly and efficient too. Stand-out dishes were the barramundi and the desserts.

The style of food is very similar to Cafe Sopra and no less impressive either. Portions seem especially huge, though. I struggled to finish two courses.
