I've had dinner here now twice in the last couple of weeks. The food is very hit or miss. The curries, stir fries and soups are fantastic, great depth of flavours and great portion sizes. The noodles are a little bit weird, kind of gluggy and overcooked.

The service is minimal, but that's to be expected from a venue of this size. I'm a little surprised that they don't sell bottled water, but they have a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks at reasonable prices.

Overall, it's a nice little spot to stop off and grab a quick dinner on a busy week night, especially when you're too tired to cook!

Describing the service we received as the greatest ever would be a dramatic understatement.

From the moment our waitress (Ella) came to our table my husband and I truly understood what it means to have a waiter "take care of you". My husband has serious dietary requirements, and our waitress was not only able to confidently and accurately describe the food (a huge relief to us when dining out) but was also able to recommend and describe matching wines with an expertise belying her obvious young age.

Although it was very busy we were constantly attended to, in a courteous and professional manner (so often missing in the Sydney dining scene) without feeling hurried or interrupted. Every little detail was taken care of and it added so much our experience.

All in all, it was an absolutely spectacular and I can't wait to go back again!

Great selection of cakes and friendly staff. The coffee is fantastic and the tea selection (my favourite is Chrysanthemum) is terrific - the teapots are really funky too!

SOY Japanese Restaurant, Bondi Beach

It's so nice to have a restaurant on Bondi Beach that doesn't feel like it's only there to take advantage on unsuspecting tourists! The food is delicious: super fresh, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. We went with friends and tried a whole lot of different dishes, something I'd definitely recommend. The service is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.

If you're like me and looking for a great dining option near Bondi (it should be also noted that the view and decor make it perfect for an informal first date), you should check out Soy. In conclusion, like the Terminator, I'll be back.

This place is years past it's best. Food is lacklustre, service worse but strangely the atmosphere is still funky when the band is playing. Not great for a cold weekday, but definitely worth a look when the music is going.
