Great tapas. A warm sunny spring afternoon is the perfect recipe to lounge back in Sabroso's beer garden and enjoy their delicious tapas. Soft juicy salt and pepper calamari, fried haloumi cheese with a spicy tomato salsa, white anchovies with harissa and spicy flat bread. Delicious. Cold beer, great staff and at $8 a plate, very good value.

Why so slow in Seddon? Went for breakfast with kids. The menus are whimsically presented inside Little Golden Books which the kids loved, story or not.
However, 45 minutes to get a breakfast when the restaurant wasn't full. We had to go ask for cutlery, serviettes, salt and pepper and the kids got ratty waiting for their food.
The food was really good. Great Eggs benedict with delicious extras of garlic mushrooms and spinach. Worth it for the food and the reasonable price but be prepared to wait wait wait and then wait some more...

Simply the worst pasta ever. A group of us went here for an early dinner and were surprised to find that the restaurant was still housing extremely drunk diners from the lunch service. Why were they so drunk you may ask? My tongue in cheek guess is that the food is so appallingly horrible that you want to drink to forget the horror of what you've just eaten.
I ordered a Spagetti Marinara which was enormous....loads of spaghetti but a struggle to find the seafood. Literally, mounds of bland packet spagetti, drowning in oil and garlic and a few hidden offerings of tiny bottled mussels literally the size of a small caper. Three prawns and two unbearded mussels as garnish. Just revolting.
To top it all off, they did nothing to control an extremely drunk patron. Three tables around us were all distressed by this man's foul and loud language but it really was over the top when he went to the toilet and ended up in the kitchen instead, without the staff even blinking an eye. A few doors away is there is a restaurant...either go there or cook at home for a fraction of the price. Avoid this restaurant at all cost.

Verge is a classic case of a restaurant trying too hard. It's all about the presentation, the twist being food as art. The dishes did look extraordinary and we had the 5 course tasting menu, but once you saw beyond the presentation....the food lacks the innovation and flavour expected from a restaurant that has been so well awarded. Overrated.

After an appallingly bad lunch time visit with kids...we ventured back to Trenta Cucina, hoping for a better experience. Breakfast consisted of oily stodgy muffins with spinach that was not washed properly and absolutely drowning in horrible packet hollandaise. Along with the 45minute wait and cold coffee....we will never go back....there are better places in Yarraville.

This little Chinese place looks as though it hasn't changed since the 70s. It's kitsch actually adds to the ambience. However, the food here was not good. The spring rolls were decidedly smelly, the soups were bland and glutinous and the apalling grey stodgy special fried rice was laced with msg. Such a shame because the staff are lovely.

Update: Bye bye Bopha Devi....we will never be back. We had one more try hoping that it could live up to its former glory. Sadly it is just not worth it at all. The restaurant was empty on a Friday night when you used to have waited to get a seat. The garlic and chive fish cakes we bland and rubbery. The pumpkin fritters were also tasteless and overcooked. But the greatest tragedy is that they've even managed to ruin their once magnificent chicken wings. Greasy, lumpy and flavourless is the only way to describe them. All this and much too expensive.
Previous Review: Bopha Devi continues to do consistently good food in a gorgeous tiny hole in the wall in Yarraville. All the dishes tend to be a little shy with the traditional spices so don't expect a chilli hit or aromatic hits of lemongrass, lime, coriander or ginger used so strongly in traditional Cambodian cooking.
That said, we keep going back time and time again because even though the mains are bordering on bland, the entrees are sensational. The fish cakes are great but their masterpiece is the stuffed chicken wings. Divine!

I think the food is extremely overpriced for the style and ambience of this place. The food was good, nothing out of the ordinary. The spring rolls were bland.

Don't neccessarily believe the hype. The food at O'Connells is good but not extraordinary. Entree was Calamari with an asian salad which was fresh and crisp but not fiery or fragrant enough for my taste. The Porterhouse was beautifully cooked but on the whole...they play it very safe with flavours. The sides of potatoes, mash and pumpkin with pine nuts are definitely where they got more adventurous.

Breakfast at Cafe Grandiflora and I ordered the Grandiflora with extra mushrooms. The board said that the Grandiflora was 2 muffins with egg, spinach, smoked salmon and hollandaise. When it arrived, the plate was absolutely swimming in hollandaise.....and that awful packet hollandaise no less. The muffins were actually crumpets and my extra mushrooms were 2 tiny pieces hidden amongst loose spinach leaves. An empty restaurant and they still managed to serve stone cold food.
