One of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane (we affectionality call it 'the coq' - see their web site http://www.continentalcafe.com.au. The restaurant sources the freshest food and you can really taste it. Their very simple bruschetta using farm fresh tomatoes, basil and salt on freshly baked bread is stunning.
Other great dishes include cuttlefish, souffle, soy lime chicken and porterhouse steak. Apparently the lamb's fry is pretty good too, so I'm told. I won't go near it myself!

Oh dear. Where to start. I apologise in advance for the length of this review!
After several excellent experiences at Toscani's Carindale, I figured this would be just as good, but it goes to show that a restaurant is only as good as its staff.
Myself and 3 others came here early on a Saturday morning around X'mas time, eager to secure an early car park and have a nice breakfast. I always get worried when you arrive at a restaurant and there's half a dozen or so tables of people, and nobody is eating or drinking. Ah well let's give it a go anyway. I saw a table of 4 adults and 6 children with nothing on the table.
We found our seats and browsed the menu, noticing that there was only one person on the floor staff. For the time of year I would think they'd put more staff on, but still the one person should have been able to handle 6 tables with ease.
The person took our order in good time. Not long after, I noticed an adjacent table were looking around in frustration. One of them got up asked what has happening. A few minutes after that, a meal came to their table, followed shortly thereafter by their drinks.
After about 30 minutes of waiting, one of my friends noticed our drinks were sitting on the bar waiting to come out to us. There they sat for about 10 minutes. I was about to go over and get them myself, but just as I was about to get up our food arrived! I asked the waitstaff why they don't have more people working, and the person responded by saying there were a lot of things not done last night. I asked her about the drinks and she brought them over. Shame they were cold. I then asked her for some tomato sauce.
First impressions of the meal - it looked awful, with the exception of my friend's pancakes which did look great. I had the big breakfast, with no eggs or mushrooms but with extra hash browns to make up for it. My wife had the scrambled eggs, tomato and toast with mushrooms.
My hash browns looked and tasted re-fried, like they were leftovers from the day before. Barely any potato and a very thick crust of fat. Chipolatas were tiny, shrivelled and dry. My wife's eggs were tough, lifeless like they didn't clean the pan before they cooked them. And how can eggs be tough?! Yesterday's leftovers?
As I expected the tomato sauce never arrived. I did feel a bit sorry for the waitstaff (I should say waitperson, I'm not sure that one person constitutes 'staff'), but at least she could have conjured up a smile - not to be. It just added to the overall sour experience we had.
We ate what we could, drank our cold drinks and went to the counter to pay. I'm glad they didn't ask us how our meals were. We didn't receive a bill, but I noticed on the screen that they had charged me for the full big breakfast, plus extra for the hash brown. I paid $16 for it. Had I ordered them as sides, it would have been $10. I just wanted to get out of there so we paid and left. In hindsight perhaps I should have contended the bill but that would mean delaying the other diners.
On our way out, the table with the 4 adults and 6 children just started to receive their drinks. At least it beat the food out I guess.

Have the steak - it's the best steak I've ever had anyway! Chargrilled to perfection and the jus is sweet and complements the steak beautifully. Wife usually has the chicken and gnocchi which is also great. We had her 30th here in the Wine Room - one of the best nights out we've ever had. The staff were first class.
Cannot recommend highly enough!

Surprised to see some poor reviews here! Have been to Kam Koon many times and each time the service has been exemplary and the food, while not cheap, is still good value for money as it's simply delicious. This is quality Chinese food. Peter and his staff have always looked after us well. Parties are great on the round table with the huge lazy susan.

This is our local F&C shop and it's one of the best F&C shops I've ever eaten at. The staff are friendly and the service is so fast - from order to pick up in no more than 10 minutes (usually around 5). There's a small al-fresco area out the front. Burgers are great and the fish is nice and fresh.

I have been to Baan Thai Springwood on a few occasions and each time the food has been absolutely delicious. Everything tastes fresh. The curries are fantastic and staff will happily change the meat with the curries - eg, Yellow prawn curry can be changed to chicken. Service is fast. Only complaint would be the chairs aren't the most comfortable, but you're in and out quickly anyway.
