I came here because my girlfriend had suggested that I give this place a shot. The waiting staff is surly and overbearing. Presentation of the food is a shame although portions are sufficiently large. Others are in a mess. The plates are chipped and dishes are not exchanged for fresh ones after a messy dish. The teapots are not clipped with a drip stopper resulting in a wet mess on the table cloth after a few refills.

Waiting staff makes little effort to clear the dishes after they are piled a mile high on the table. After we finished our brunch at 11.30, we saw a queue of 20 people deep and I wonder why? Is the yum cha scene that sad in Sydney that diners would queue to overpay for sub standard food?

Our fellow reviewers here should really go somewhere else for yum cha. If you have had the chance to try yum cha in Hong Kong and Singapore, you would not come here, ever.

Too expensive, perhaps, to amortise operating costs due to the limited guests coming through off season. I had the Seafood Cassolet, ample portions, fresh vegetables. My partner had the barramundi. Portions are just about sufficient. Dessert is not great. The creme brulee although claimed to be among the most popular was a disappointment. Too sweet. A mandatory 2 course meal for 63 is way too much.

Simply Awful. Didn't read the review before going there because Cafe Sydney was full. Waiter was shabbily dressed. Waitress had no clue of what's the weight of the steak and the fish of the day. Risotto was served 10 minutes after ordering. (Should always be 20 minutes if made from scratch). Too salty. Fish was alright but the greens were overcooked. Didn't ask for the check but was promptly slapped on the table. Overpriced. Nasty. Forget it. Only fools will eat here, I tellya.

Expensive. Service is good. Good bread. Creative dishes. I had the "Crispy fish with rice and giner sauce". It's basically "upper crust" fish and chip fish but done very nicely. My partner had the tuna linguine. Done very nicely, interesting taste. Starters were bonito sashimi. Very interesting to the palate. Great food but can be easily replaced if another joint price it lower.

Sydney's restaurants are severely over priced. I wonder if restaurant owners know what's going on outside Australia. Food's good, the special dessert of the day was divine, service was delightful. Starter was served 10 minutes after we were seated. If not for the superb dessert, we would have been out by 7 pm for theatre.

Visit this place for the good value pizza. The mains are not their strength. Can be very noisy but has "character". Our waiter was charming and always patient and smiley.
