The last time we ate upstairs at the Stokehouse was a year ago. This time around, the service was still good and ambience of a sunny day unbeatable, but sadly some of the dishes were not up to the past standard. I guess consistent with the drop from 2 hats to one hat in 2010.

From the menu we had the entree spaghettini, great, parfait/pate great flavour but not as described on the menu. Mains both the fish from the menu and lamb from the specials board were ordinary, and desserts from the menu, bombe, ordinary, but the trifle was to die for.

Still a Melbourne establishment, but a bit of a let down and average value for money averaging $100 per head for 3 courses.

We have been going to White Village for the past 15 years and keep going back. Kosta is always so cheery and makes returning customers welcome. The food is not fine dining Greek, but more taverna style that you get on Santorini. Best dishes are the saganaki, and prawns, and if you are lucky, mousakka will be available. There is no menu, you get what is fresh on the day.

This must be Canberra's best kept secret. We tried it after the two earlier glowing reviews and have come away with an even higher opinion. We arrived without any wine, not knowing it was BYO only. Our waiter noticed that and advised to pop around the corner to a supermarket to buy, we made it just before closing.

The menu was full of tempting dishes, and as we saw some of the main courses coming out, we knew that we would not be going hungry. The waiter then told us of all the specials for the night. so we (two), elected to have 5 entrees plus dessert, Chicken livers with bacon and tomato, penne with gorganzola, fresh sardines, salmon filled pasta and tempura prawns, tartufo and poached pears.

The bill came to less than $100. Whilst the restaurant is listed as modern Australian, there is definitely an Italian theme. A return visit a certainty when next in Canberra.

A great fine dining restaurant. Our very attentive waitress told us the degustation menu changes all the time, we chose instead to have entrees, mains, cheese and then dessert, all of which were superb. Great wine list, and whilst for each variety only one type was available by the glass, the pinot, shiraz and muscat on offer were great. Recommended, but book well ahead.
