My husband and I booked a table here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had heard good reports and many friends who knew we were going were quite envious. So, our expectations were high. We arrived at 7.20pm (for a 7.30pm reservation) but were ushered to our table and given some water. 10 minutes or so later we were provided with a bread roll.
And we waited. And waited. And waited. But we received no further service. No menu. No wine list. Nothing. By 8.10pm, it was obvious that we had been "forgotten". Others who had come after us were tucking into (what appeared to be) delightful looking meals.
My husband called a waiter over and we toyed with the idea of ordering something, but by this time we had no desire to stay. The evening was irretrievably ruined. Plus the attitude of the waiter (and the "more senior person" we asked to see) was peculiar. We left.
25 minutes later (when we were half way home, yes, we'd traveled quite a distance for this experience) some one else from the restaurant called us, asking if we would like to return for a complimentary meal. We declined. They do not seem to understand that you only get one chance to make a good first impression and they had blown it. Some people may be appeased by a free meal. But that was not of interest to us. We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary and a free meal could not replace what they had taken away from us.
I couldn't even give a better ambience score because there was a cold draft blowing up my skirt for the entire 50 minutes we sat there waiting for something to happen!

My husband and I ate dinner here on Saturday night just gone. We were staying in house and wanted a quick bite to eat before heading out to a show. We didn't book (which could have proven fatal) but fortunately they "squeezed us in".
The place or, perhaps, the wait staff seemed somewhat disorganised. There appeared to be some mayhem playing on around us. However, the order of a pasta dish each and a rocket salad came out very quickly for us.
I had the marinara which seemed quite good. My husband had another pasta dish that contained prosciutto which he thought was tough and tasteless. The rest of the dish was satisfactory however.
This would not put me off coming back for a more leisurely dinner at another time. My tip, however, is to ensure you book!

A friend and I had the most wonderful lunch at Tonic today. Everything about this place was positive and I particularly appreciated the "extras" like a sampler of the soup of the day and roll and a dessert sampler (all complimentary).
I had the roasted beef fillet which was deliciously, melt in your mouth tender. My girlfriend had the venison and she was in raptures over it. Our desserts were also wonderful.
I highly recommend Tonic to you and I cannot wait to return again with my husband.

My husband and I enjoyed a delightful dinner here a few Friday nights ago. I find it difficult to recall any aspect of the evening that was not up to scratch.
The service was pleasant and attentive. The venue is colourful, open and clean and the food - sensational! Whilst the menu is not extensive, the offerings are imaginative, very appealing and where ever possible seek to utilise local produce. As such, you know it will be very fresh and of a high quality.
On the evening we were there, 2011's Masterchef Kate Bracks was there. We felt that had to be a bit of an endorsement as this was a restaurant that a Masterchef wanted to dine at as well! Will definitely return.

The food was great, although some of the accompaniments seemed a tad heavy on the vinegar. Just the same, the servings were very generous and the offerings imaginative.
The ambience was great. We loved the beautifully renovated old house. The music (whilst not really "French") was unobtrusive, providing a pleasant and subtle background.
Our waiter was suitably attentive although slightly devoid of personality. All in all a lovely night and we will look forward to returning when we find ourselves in Tamworth again.

I dined at this establishment last Wednesday evening with my husband. The service was excellent. The food was quite good, although perhaps a slight disappointment, given that this is a "One Chef's Hat" restaurant. My expectations were fairly high. We enjoyed our dining experience on the Thursday night (at 'Villa Gusto' - also a One Chef Hatted establishment near Bright) even more - however it is not included on Eatability and so I am unable to review it.

I have eaten at this restaurant in its new "Pantanos" format 3 times now. Each time, the food has been very good although the service can tend to be a bit erratic. Either 'absent' (first visit)or 'too attentive' (second visit) or 'quite good' (third visit).
The main thing that keeps us coming back is the quality of the steak. My husband raves about it and has declared the steaks he has enjoyed here the best he has ever eaten. The more I eat here, the more I like it. Recommend you give it a try!

I know that Jack Duggan's has recently been award "3 Schooners" for its pub grub. And the food isn't bad, but honestly I have eaten there on at least 5 or 6 occasions and it's always been ok, but it has never struck me as being fantastic.
I was there most recently last night. The food was adequate. But no "wow factor". I was on a table with 4 others and no one raved about their dish. My son gave his chicken parmigiana 5 out of 10. Harsh critic!
Something that really erks me about this place is that it is cash only. This is really problematic for people (like myself) who prefer to "card" everything. It is also difficult to rustle up enough cash when you are taking your family out for dinner. I seldom carry more than $100 cash on me, because (as mentioned) I prefer to put everything on my card. There is a "auto teller" on site, which charges $2 for the priviledge. Not really impressed. Sorry.

As a local, I have been to The Hub on several occasions this year (for breakfast and lunch) and I struggle to understand what the fuss is about. In my experience, the food isn't bad but isn't "great" either. Most recently I had breakfast here and although the service was quick, the food was really quite ordinary. My husband described his "big breakfast" as tasteless. We were hosting a friend from Canberra and had raved to her about the award winning venue but we ended up feeling rather foolish at how mediocre our experience turned out to be.
There are so many other dining opportunities in Bathurst that I can't see us returning to The Hub anytime soon.

I had read in local "where to eat" booklet that this was the place to go. So, my expectations were high. Wow....what a disappointment. I turned up without a booking (not that was a problem) but waited a silly amount of time for anyone to even acknowledge my presence. Not a good start.
I ordered a glass of 3 Tails Sauv Blanc (very nice) and was looking forward to another glass or two (however, this never transpired as I was not approached again where the drinks were concerned).
I was planning on trying one of the lovely sounding desserts, so just had some bruschetta (with apricots, tomato and brie) to start and also ordered a salmon fillet for my main. I was happily munching on the bruschetta (it was actually very nice) when the smarmy, pretentious waiter turned up with my main. I Hate That. Is it really that difficult for the kitchen to coordinate the courses? Apparently so.
To add insult to injury, the salmon fillet was dry and seriously over cooked. It was served with a thimble of beurre blanc and kipfler potatoes so hard you could use them as clay pigeons. I had only one bite of them and could not bring myself to eat any more.
Again - some more of that lovely 3 Tails wine might have helped the situation, but as mentioned, I was not asked.
This was on a Wednesday night and maybe the regular chef was having a night off. However, I would not bother trying my luck there on another evening to try and find out. I couldn't bring myself to stick around and try one of those lovely sounding desserts. Sorry - cannot recommend this establishment.
