This pub isn't bad although the staff could be a bit more attentive. The food is quite good if you stick to stuff like burgers and chips. However, I had the worst Thai beef salad here I've ever had. Perhaps it's my own fault for ordering something like that outside a Thai restaurant.
It's quite simple to make and I don't think they should have cocked it up quite as much as they did. Raw beef rather than rare beef if you get my drift. It's a shame they don't sack the chef and get someone decent in. Then they could revamp the menu - less of the printed laminated version and more of a blackboard perhaps!
Agree with previous comments about some of the staff being surly. It is a shame that the outside is full of smokers but that's sure to change. The manager of the restaurant part is very willing.
I live near this pub so visit quite often. I had to laugh when reading a recent review which said the pub staff couldn't be bothered to fill a glass of wine to the line. This happened to me too. It's a shame that the service isn't very nice.

Popped in here for lunch with a friend and loved it. We shared a rigatoni pasta dish and pork belly, salad and goats cheese and it was extremely good value. The house wine is unusual (verdelho) and very well priced so I will definitely return. Recommended.

I have been to Via Napoli three times since it opened in November. The first time was fab but sadly it has deteriorated since then.
Even though I made a booking, they seemed to have no record of it, but they had no problem in fitting us in. The waitress is absolutely lovely but I have to say the mussels which I had the first time I went in November, were definitely not so good this time. The toast served with them was old and dry rather than succulent with oil and garlic (as it was the first time I had it). Also, the calamari is not so fresh or generous, coming in small fried pieces. The pizza was a little under-cooked.
I live in Lane Cove and had high hopes for this place as we are not exactly inundated in good restaurants. I only hope they pick up on food and, perhaps, learn to say “no” as they are fitting in way too many diners in the small space they have and, perhaps, that is why they are having difficulty maintaining the standards.
Half way there, but room for improvement!

Now that Colin Fassnidge is doing the food at the Paddington Arms (as well as the Four in Hand), it’s improved out of sight. The bar manager is brilliant personally topping up our table with supplies of ice (which we like to add to our sparkling wine).
The food is very good quality and good value for the price. Try the pulled pork sarnie with coleslaw and chips or crab paste on toast. It’s not always perfect here, but try finding such a comfortable place with food that isn’t just burgers anywhere else near Oxford Street.

Loved Pazzo. It's a bit dark though which makes it a bit hard to read the menus. The food is lovely and the restaurant has a comfortable feel. It's very good value and BYO is a bonus. I had pumpkin ravioli and the side dish of roasted potatoes with rosemary I think was fab.

Second visit to Holy Cow. The staff are good and I love the chicken tikka masala, partner had lamb biryani which I thought was ok but not brilliant. It's got a very nice cosy feel especially for winter and I would recommend it for value and service.

Quite good, although we were there early in the evening at 6 pm so service was ok. I think the menu's quite good in that they don't try to do too many things, e.g. about 4 pastas.
Went back in August and found they are suddenly no longer BYO, or actually do allow BYO but with a $10 charge per bottle. It would be better if they told customers of the new charge, and offered to waive the cost on that occasion "but just so you know for next time", the goodwill would be worth it. Quite arrogant attitude all in all as they really crowd the patrons in and it's a bit pricey for what you get. Won't hurry back even though I'm a local.

I really like Spice Temple, it's a very glamourous venue especially as it is effectively in a basement! My husband and I shared 2 entrees and 2 main dishes. The servings were quite large in my opinion. We like spicy food so picked choices which were specifically marked as extra hot. We particularly liked the sweet sour and numbing pork but also liked 3 shot chicken. I was not so keen on the numbing lamb salad as I found it much much too salty and can't quite believe it was meant to be so salty.
Also the broccoli with oyster sauce had a very fishy taste. However, despite those two items everything else sensational. The wine list is good too, offering a few lovely options from the Alsace region which is a favourite of mine! I will definitely be back but probably with a larger party of 4 so that we can try more things!

The pizzas here are great. I can't comment on the ambience since I have only ordered takeaway pizzas on two occasions both times having them delivered. The margherita pizza is sensational, especially with a pinch of oregano on it!

I love the food here, great salads, winter salad lovely, and the chicken salad is both unusual and delicious. They always have a tart of the day which is good value too and some nice specials. Chicken schnitzel turkish is fantastic. The staff are really nice and obliging too.
Update December 2008: I keep going back to Dov. The girls and wait staff are terrific. They change the menu in keeping with seasonal veg, etc. Weekends it can get a bit busy but week days fantastic. Try the chicken salad, or the mediterranean sandwich with halloumi cheese, the salads are gorgeous and usually the bruschetta or tart of the day great too. Sometimes they have a risotto, there's always something to suit a fussy eater and they even have breakfast stuff like eggs benedict too. Just love it.
