As I dislike "gimmicky" establishments, I avoided this place for many years, whilst my boyfriend has tried to get me to go there for the past 2 years. Eventually I gave in, and I'm so glad that I did. I loved the "oompapah" atmosphere, and the food that I ordered was so tasty. I absolutely loved the goulash for a starter (!), and I picked at my bf's meat platter for a main (we shared the meat platter, and it was more than enough for the two of us) - I devoured the pate, crunchy bread and sauerkraut. Not being a big meat eater didn't pose much of an issue for me, as I still walked away very full, focusing on the side dishes, while my bf ate the meat. A lot of the food on the menu can appear to be quite stodgy, but you just balance it out with a lighter starter or main so as to prevent discomfort. Service was always very quick and friendly. A great place for families, couples who want something a bit different, and larger groups. I really liked the communal tables indoors. Just like a German beer hall. Time flew.

One of my two favourite coffee houses in the CBD. When I'm working down that end of town, I always stop by, as the coffee is brilliant and flirting with the baristas always puts a spring in my step! Not a place to eat a meal, as quite a small establishment, that offers mainly outdoor (pavement) seating. A very Italian feel though.

I've eaten here quite a few times, always late at night which I think is the only way to go. Not only do I love driving all the way to the city for the food (which is decent), I love watching all the other customers who are present, from bikers, to mobsters and thugs, from Japanese tourists to lovers, from cabbies to navy officers. Its absolutely fantastic having such a mix of people huddled around the van/shack eating and hanging out. Especially in winter.

I've tried better pies elsewhere (best place is Nyngan in outback NSW), but the Tiger curry pie or hot dogs are fantastic after a long day (I especially love the mash and gravy!), I don't drink, so I have had all my faculties when eating here, and the food really isn't that bad, sometimes quite dry, but great nevertheless.

I've left Sydney for a while for work, and now that I'm pregnant, all I crave are pie's from Harry's!

I've been to this restaurant on several occasions and absolutely love it! My boyfriend introduced me to the Bridge St restaurant about a year ago, I initially refused to go to a "steakhouse", a bit of snobbery on my part. But I was absolutely impressed on each occasion. I've been to many high end restaurants in Sydney, and overseas, and this for me is one of the better places to have a meal.

The ambience is fantastic, the surrounds calm, the waiters are polite and professional, and the Maitre de was lovely. I've read some of the reviews describing him as rude or obnoxious but I guess it depends on how sensitive a person you are. To us he's always been friendly, professional and gone out of his way to ensure a great dining experience.

I even took my best friend along on one occasion (a Very fussy woman) and even she was impressed with the experience. I can only offer the suggestion that if you go in there stiff and uncomfortable with yourself, or unfriendly, this will be reflected in the service you receive in return.

The food is always superb, entrees are light and divine, and the steaks are the best I've tried, I've also lived in the country and know my steaks, these are fantastic, melt in your mouth. I don't drink alcohol, and I've never received a roll of the eyes for not ordering drinks (less money for the restaurant) as I have had in other restaurants. Nor has there ever been pressure to leave once mains were eaten. Truly wonderful food for the price. Highly recommended.
