We came here for breakfast as I remembered going to the original POTr when I was a child and thought it might be a nice change. I think it was best left as a memory. Walking into the sterile orange restaurant I saw it was adorned with it's very own tacky video jukebox. Sweet pancakes with eggs benedict is a bizzare invention that doesn't really do anything but make you wish you had an English muffin instead of pancakes, or maple syrup instead of the eggs. And the "ultimate" crepes I got were a sloppy warm soup on the plate.
I had to fight my way through the overly sweet piles of melted cream cheese goo and commercial berry coulis to find the crepe. The service was fast and pleasant, we were 2 of only 6 people there. Maybe just a short stack with syrup would have been much better as their plain pancakes seem to be nice by themselves but I won't be in a hurry to go back and find out.

We come here for the duck pancakes and the crispy skin pork. It's a wonderful mix of kitsch and the seedier side of Sydney's history. My partner loves this place quite simply for the hoi sin sauce. I love it because you can mix with some fun and offbeat people and maybe even a celebrity or two.

The best patisserie I have ever been to. Hands down. Try all of the macarons and the Dr Apple. It's pricier than other patisseries but it also blows the others out of the water. In this case, you get what you pay for.

We enthusiastically entered this restaurant spurred on by the excellent reviews from eatability. Maybe we expected too much. What this is deep fried un-seasoned, un-coated, un-interesting bony bland chicken. I know that we were provided with sides and sauces to make the meal but it's just deep fried chicken.
Sorry but I don't get what all the fuss is about.
What I do have praise for is the drop noodles, they have a wonderfully moreish chewy texture that I would gladly sit down to on any given day but they can keep the chicken. The service was very prompt and above average. The restaurant was clean and bright. As far as I am concerned this is okay but doesn't live up to the hype, give me duck pancakes any day over the famed Tan Viet crispy skinned chicken.

We came here early on a quiet night and on arrival were the only ones there. I have to say that restaurant was a little tired and untidy looking and had terrible ambience.
When we ordered a few entrees and a side dish to share we got a surprise look from our server who was questioning that we didn't order mains (we wanted to fit in dessert and don't like eating a big pile of one thing). The food was okay but didn't knock our socks off. The paneer was deep fried in a thick overly heavy batter and some of the meat was extremely dried out.
The sides were very fresh and the pappadums were crisp and the meals were a good size. Unfortunately, three other tables of two walked in whilst we were eating and it seemed to mean we were no longer able to be served. Once we had our food the server didn't come back to our table, not even to clear the empty plates which sat in front of us for ten minutes before we decided to leave without dessert.
All in all the place is lacking finesse in too many areas and has no one great redeeming quality for us to return.
Response from Management:
We are improving, and sure we will come up to your expectation. Thank you for your valuable comments.

Fortune 8 is the best yum cha in the greater Sydney area as far as we are concerned. I can't believe I haven't posted a review for this restaurant yet. We eat here at least once (sometimes two or three times) a week. The owners and staff are amazingly efficient and very welcoming and friendly, we almost feel like part of the family.
The menu is a little more limited than some of the larger yum cha places but there's still plenty to choose from. Value for money is amazing. Enough said- fortune 8 wins hands down.

Come here for the food. I went tonight with my partner brother and sister in law and we were blown away by the huge portions. It's more like a little diner than a restaurant with a very small menu but I like the concept of "do a few things and do them very well" and so they do. The meat dishes are wonderfully flavoured, and well cooked. The chicken Tika was amazing and the kebab was great. All with lots of flat bread and pickles to add to your meal. The service was fast, friendly and unobtrusive. Worth travelling for, we will back.

Dinner here was enjoyable, but given the proximity to other Italian restaurants I doubt we will be back soon. The mixed entree was pretty good, but nothing exciting. I asked for my main dish, the salmon, to come out medium rare and it was medium well. My partner's steak was a bit sinewy and medium rather than medium rare. Having said that the zuppa inglese was to die for and so was the other dessert, the gelato.
The restaurant is interestingly decked out and quite nice, the service was a little casual. It was okay, but I'm looking for great when I spend that kind of coin.
Nice concept but needs some attention to detail.

What a fantastic place! We had to wait a little for a table outside, but didn't mind because you can stand and watch the Chef's making dumplings through the windows (and it's sooooo hygienic, face masks and spotless kitchen). We ordered on our card whilst waiting and the food was at our table about 2 minutes after we sat, as were the drinks.
The xiao long bao was to die for (and the instruction card was fun and very helpful). The staff were efficient and helpful and the "pork floss" was something else. There was nothing I didn't like and I definitely will be back soon.

Having never been to the Fairfield RSL before, we were pleasantly surprised by the very unclublike decor and friendly attentive service we received. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food (we had yum cha) is fresh, hot and very tasty. It would have been nice to have a pot of green tea offered when seated but that is only a small oversight.
The menu card was easy to read (in English) and if we wanted to try something that wasn't on the trolley at the time, they went straight away to get it for us.
Today was only the first time we have been there but we will be back.
