Great little place on the outskirts of Military Rd. Was next to another Japanese restaurant, but thought this had a more bubbly feeling. Ordered tofu salad, Goemon sushi, sashimi main and terkiyaki chicken.
It was a Sunday, so it seemed the waiters were quite under-staffed but the orders did come out eventually. I didn't mind this as I liked the pace of the dishes.
Tofu salad was great, very thick chunky pieces, almost felt like fetta cheese. Both the sushi and sashimi were excellent. Teriyaki chicken could have been a little better, it was much too crispy. We enjoyed all of this with a bottle of sake.
Overall a great place to dine, will be back for the other sushi varieties as we loved the Goemon roll! Highly recommended.

Had the Hainanese chicken rice. Portion was average, would do with more of the chicken, although that was good. Came with sauce and soup. Will come back again to try the rest of the menu. Seems like a very popular place with lower ground packed to the rafters as well on a Friday night. Open kitchen concept similar to other restaurants trying to entice would-be diners.

Been coming here for the last 5 years after reading it on grabyourfork. The ramen here has the thickest soup in Sydney.
I've personally watched the chef taste-test each bowl of ramen soup using a new plastic spoon each time to determine if it's worthy of serving to the customers. This is a rare sight, but speaks of the quality control they have setup in-house.
Chasu and egg is always perfect as well. Not the best place to take a date, but I think she'll forget about it once she digs into it. Tell her the collagen is good for the skin!
Love this place. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Came on a Saturday night, dinner for four. Entrance was greeted by a gentleman in a suit. Off the menu, we ordered 2 sushi platters and 2 wagyu shabu shabu ($66pp) and an assorted chicken dish. Were given towels to cleanse our hands.
Sushi platters were very good, came in a big plate. Very presentable and were all fresh.
Shabu shabu came next once we've devoured the rest of the sushi. The waiter assisted us with adding the vegies into the steam boat but we insisted we'll handle the beef.
Wagyu beef was melt-in-your-mouth. You're given two sauces, one is sesame, the other is vinegar/soy. Both were perfect for dipping your beef. Finished off with some udon noodles. Last came the risotto, this will top your appetite off.
No dessert as we decided to go to Leichardt for gelato.
Overall a fantastic meal and will be back for another special occasion. Highly recommended, albeit on the pricey side.

Attended a birthday party here with a group of 10. Setting is dark and warm. However, it was apparent that the air-con wasn't doing it's job of cooling the crowds in the restaurant. I was already sweating before the entree started!
We ordered the set menu with beer/sangria as extras. Never had Mexican so was surprised it was quite appealing. Some of the sauces are extremely hot so avoid if you can't take the heat. There was enough tapas to go around for us, and you basically wrap everything in the tortillas.
Overall a good dining experience, albeit I walked out like I had a sauna.

Been here for my birthday dinner, a shout from my best friend which is always good.
Decor is rustic, unique yet appealing. Felt very comfortable under the warehouse-like arches. We ordered quite a bit of food: the Tomahawk steak being the highlight. Considering the size (2.3kg), it was cooked to perfection. Extensive wine-list and desserts. Felt the home-made chocolate was average though.
Overall a great night at this place. Can't wait til I return. Highly recommended.

Came on a Sunday night for a family dinner. Got seated right under an airconditioner. Ordered spinach, live crab, black pepper beef and pork bone soup.
The first dish that arrived was the spinach, followed by rice. I was surprised as usually the first dish should be the seafood dish such as crabs or lobsters. So we sat there for another 5 minutes having our spinach now cold due to the air-con blasting on to the table. Next came the beef, which we could start enjoying with our rice.
Crab came about 15 minutes later, we ordered with the vermicelli hotpot, not really impressed. At this point we complained about the air-con, and the waitress rudely replied that they don't have air-con on. So I suggested "Do you want to sit at my seat?", and she obliged! How dare her to question a customer? After some reluctance to assist blaming "This isn't my responsibility", she told another waiter to turn it off.
With most Chinese restaurants, when you eat crabs or any other seafood requiring to use your hand, you're giving a nut-cracker, a bowl of tea water with lemon and fresh towels. We were not given any of this, and when requested, the waiter unapologetically replied they don't have any of the above!
On the way out to pay the bill, we laid out all our complaints to the senior staff, fell on deaf ears, with a reluctant apology for the lack of service. Never coming back again. Highly Not Recommended.

I came here on a Saturday. Place was only half full. The decor is antique, loved the high ceiling.
Ordered entree: Seafood plate for two for $29.50. I wasn't really impressed with the delivery of four garlic prawns and some over-fried calamari and soft-shell crab. For mains, I ordered the 500g T-Bone and she had the 350gm Sirloin grain-fed. Both looked like they've been on the kitchen bench waiting to be collected...I expected my steak to be sizzling hot. Taste was quite bland. Potato mash was not creamy at all...flavourless. Not sure if it was me not being that hungry, but I've always thought highly of this place (since the Kingsleys days).
I would probably not rush back unless I'm offered another Entertainment Card deal.

Went here for an anniversary. Had the $159 degustation with matching wine. Entry was nice. Secluded and discreet. The waitress accommodated our request to change tables as we were seated next to a large group. For couples, ensure you sit close to the walls where it's much better.
Food and wine came out in fantastic order. Wine came before the food which gave us time to enjoy the wine by itself. It was great timing. Being a meat-lover, the quail and beef were fantastic.
Overall very much enjoyed this. Price was fair for a 2-hat degustation menu. Would definitely come back soon. Highly recommended.

Went on a Sunday night. Fully packed, while restaurants nearby were empty.
Food wise: we ordered chicken satay, squid kechup manis, Hainan chicken, and Belachan kankong. Overall the food is very good. The squid is definitely very tasty, albeit oily. Chicken is juicy, tender and de-boned. Chicken rice was great.
I noticed the prices on these aren't cheap. Kankong for $16.80? Whole Chicken for $40? Paid $120 for 4. Compared to what you'd pay somewhere in Chinatown or Kingsford for just $60-75.
Make sure you book ahead, and put up with the waitress rubbing her fat stomach across your back when she walks pass! Recommended.
