We visited for dinner last night for a work farewell and ordered the banquet selection. The atmosphere was noisy, friendly and the location well suited for group functions.

Good Lebanese fare with a smooth, tasty hommous and a mild, nearly bland babaganoush which lacked the characteristic smokiness came for starters. The Fatoush salad was a highlight as well as the grilled eggplant. The freshness of the fatoush and tabouli made up for the less than stellar vegetarian vine leaves and falafel. The little lamb pastries (sambusic) were crisp and light and led nicely into the selection of skewers. Of the meats, the chicken was a standout being tender and having a lovely flavour.

The desserts could have been more generous with the coffee. Most diners will notice and remember that a baklava and turkish delight has been cut into 3-6 pieces even if they do not comment. They were described as "complimentary" certainly but would we serve our guests at home a little baklava roll cut into 3-4 pieces?

Very much a "hole in the wall" Sushi place in the chinatown end of Hurstville. The staff are friendly and prompt and whilst we would agree the serving sizes are not large, the freshness and quality are good for the area. Their sushi are better than their hot dishes and the platters are good value for the made to order aspect. Happy to recommend for a quick sushi fix.

Visited for an early mid week dinner with our two young boys yesterday and were seated promptly and courteously. Told kids' Churrasco was half the adult price even for our 6 year old. This was fine for us but may be an issue for those with children who are quite unlikely to make the most of the "All you can eat" aspect. The sides arrived pretty soon afterwards with the salsa and black beans being the stand outs. The meat dishes came after some waiting and the service initially was quite good. As the restaurant filled up though the various meats did not step up to accommodate the tables and many were waiting like ourselves. The salmon and the prawns were good and the lamb quite tender. Overall it was a nice feed let down by the lack of food later in the evening due to the busyness of the night. We must mention that we found the staff friendly and polite.

Just come back from an impromptu 1st visit to this local Asian fusion restaurant and we are quietly impressed. We took the full degustation option to try dishes on offer and the kids were thankful for a Junior degustation option. There a many places offering tasting menus that could pick this up as a good idea. There are families out there who enjoy fine dining with their kids and have children who appreciate it as well.

The upstairs has a totally different ambience to what passersby see downstairs and far more cosy and inviting. The food is elegantly presented and prepared with a light touch in flavours. The Marble beef steak was the standout course for the kids with the Emperor's prawn a close second. Both are must-try's.

Seven Lanterns is culinary gem to the Shire and needs to be better supported by those over the bridge. As with many Japanese cuisines, do not come here expecting buckets of food for communal shovelling. Visit for a contemporary Asian food experience that leaves you wondering what the next menu will have. Well done David & team. Thank you for your gracious hospitality.

Response from Management:
Wow, you took the words right out my mouth - couldn't have described our intentions any better. And so grateful that you appreciated Jnr degustation! Let's teach them young! Thanks KenJo.

Opah's signature Greek yum cha is the reason we're sure many go and it is good value food. The tiropitas and the calamari are standouts for us and the lamb is also more-ish. Service could be more attentive even in the quiet times at lunch having eaten both midweek and on the weekend. A good local eatery for a good feed where fine cuisine and service is not the priority.

We feel like we've discovered a hidden jewel in sleepy Kyle Bay after coming here for lunch today. James and Drew have done an excellent job in creating a casual fine dining experience in this quiet corner of the South. We were very impressed with the friendliness and competent service from the moment we entered and blown away by the execution of the ambitious menu with dishes that punch above their weight.

This place is all about delivering fine dining with fresh seasonal produce in a casual atmosphere. Will definitely go back for dinner. Highly recommended and destined for big things.

Come for the food. Simply excellent value and quality for the price. Fateh Hummus bil Labneh and the mixed plate are good choices for 1st timers. The toum and baba ganoush are lovely.

Went to the Greenacre one on a weeknight and was pleasantly surprised at the freshness and quality. This is a place best experienced in a group to share and enjoy. Service is brisk and brusque and you may well need to order one more mixed plate than expected as the favourites disappear too quick. Still should budget for only about $15 - 20 per head if sharing. Fatoush salad and baba ganoush are great as is the grilled chicken.

One of the better cheap and cheerful Thai diners along the busy King St strip. Caters for locals, workers and students and does a roaring lunch trade in tasty generous Thai stirfrys and noodles at a great price. Pad see ew and pad mamuang are standouts for us and we find the chicken and tofu versions are consistently better than the others.

Still very cool after several visits and a perfect fit for the Surry Hills crowd. Private Dining is well worth the trouble in organising a group of friends to go with. Cocktails are good but the teas ordinary and limited in selection. Soft shell crab and the wagyu are excellent but the rolls can be hit and miss. Don't go if you dislike noise with your dining.
