I lived in the Caribbean (Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana) for a little while and loved the food. The atmosphere here is not upmarket but certainly friendly and nice. This is the second time I've been here in as many months, and, unfortunately, the food and particularly the service has not been great. On my first visit the food was not bad, the service was a little slow but still not too bad.
Unfortunately, on my most recent visit, the famous chicken drumettes were severely burnt and they forgot our order for a main and only told us they were out of goat after I went up to the counter to ask over an hour later. I generally don’t complain, I just don’t come back but this is, unfortunately, the worst dining experience I've had. Such a shame, was keen for it to be a favourite since I'm a local.

Great cafe. Awesome menu, specialises in some native animals like kangaroo, crocodile, emu, barramundi etc, but does a great job incorporating it into modern meals like burgers and pasta. Sounds a little eccentric but excellent place. Try the kangaroo steak or the creamy crocodile boscaiola penne!
It's on redfern st, while people watching there are a few interesting characters around but all in all it's a gem! Definitely recommend trying.
Of course if you're squeamish about eating native flora and fauna then maybe not for you, although, they do get there apparently in a responsible manner.
