I really wanted to like this restaurant. Their menus were cute and the ambience was simple but acceptable. We went at a quiet time and the staff were polite and obviously appreciative of our patronage. I commend this restaurant for its creativity, even though some of their dishes (like the paella) were a bit hit-or-miss. The more traditional Japanese dishes were great. The main thing that put me off this restaurant was the $35 bill for green tea; the single-cup pots were $5 each and did not include refills. I'll give this restaurant a second chance, but I'll remember not to order any tea next time.

One of the top Japanese restaurants in Sydney. The sashimi is always fresh, the specials regularly updated, and the home made soba delicious. However, their prices have increased significantly in recent times which I feel has discouraged many of their regular customers from returning as often as they used to. Recommended, but currently too expensive.

Delicious meat and great service. Don't expect much variety; there are generally no specials and the menu has remained the same for years. Still, it's the quality of the Wagyu which keeps me coming back.

Authentic, high quality casual Japanese dining in the CBD. The customer service is good and the ambience acceptable, but Azuma has suffered from the same problem that plagues many new restaurants; decreasing portions and increasing prices. Azuma's signature tuna salad has literally halved in size since the restaurant first opened. Their specials menu also offers less and less variety each visit. The dessert menu is also boring and has remained almost the same since the restaurant opened. It would also help if Azuma himself was a little friendlier to his customers.

Typical overpriced fare for a chocolate cafe. Their staff are mostly young international students who know absolutely nothing about customer service. Not recommended.

I had a great meal here in their first week of opening. The tapas were top notch. Since then, their tapas have decreased in size and quality. I recently went here in a group of 4 and all of our steaks were low quality cuts of meat. Mine was well cooked (though tasteless), but my other guests' steaks were underdone. The 1 litre jugs of cocktails were poorly mixed and diluted. The sangria and mighty mojito we had were terrible. I hope this restaurant can lift their game, as they have a great location and setup and their service staff do seem to try.

Good, quick Cantonese cuisine. Reasonable value and great service for a Chinese restaurant. Better than most restaurants in Chinatown.

This place is well past its prime. It used to be a good value, izakaya-style Japanese restaurant to go with large groups. Over the years, the restaurant's facilities have failed to be maintained, the quality of food has declined significantly and prices have gone up.
The service is poor and the menus we received were greasy and on the verge of falling apart. Go here if you like your food expensive, service slow, and your entrees for dessert.

Offers a similar selection of nigiri sushi and sushi rolls to Umi at Capitol. The quality of the sushi is generally higher than other Chinese or Korean owned sushi trains in Sydney, though not spectacular. They are currently running an opening special of $3.60 per plate on weekdays, but their normal plate prices are just too expensive.
Umi's biggest flaw is its customer service (or lack thereof); the waiters and waitresses are generally inattentive and the manager has a serious attitude problem.
