Yes, the courtyard here is beautiful. But it isn't sufficient to compensate for the shocking service, and mediocre food. I went with a friend last Sunday, and it took 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and another 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive. When my frappe appeared, the ice had not been blended properly, and the result was nigh undrinkable.

I went for drinks on a Friday night, didn't order dinner, but had an antipasto platter. Whilst the chairs and other furniture are quirky and interesting, there was little space to move around, and the place felt uncomfortably full. Additionally, the drinks were overpriced, with a glass of wine averaging around $11. And I don't know how they worked out the prices, as I ordered the same drink at 9 pm and paid $9.50, and 2 hours later, its price had risen to $11.50. The Victoria Room is one of those places that it's fun to visit once, but I won't be coming here regularly.

To describe this place as "overpriced" is the understatement of the millenium. Yes, the location is great, and the serving staff were very attentive. But to expect customers to pay $5 for a coffee, and $15 for a small pie is simply absurd. Myself and my friend paid $51 for lunch, which is ridiculous. And the food was no better than what you would get for half the price from a take away food court. Definitely won't be going back.

I went here on a Tuesday night with a few friends, and really enjoyed it. Service was fast and friendly, and they have a great $10 pizza deal. It was very quiet, with few other patrons, but that's not a bad thing. My main complaint was that the outdoor smoking area backed on to the pokies room, and we could hear the machines all night, which was somewhat distracting. But overall, if you pick the right night to go, it's a great place.

Mediocre and overpriced would be the best ways to describe this bar. To have one bar tender on the upstairs bar on a Saturday night is absurd, especially given how busy the place is. The cocktails were not particularly impressive, given they cost $16 each, tasted watery and wishy-washy. There's a lot better places to go in Newtown than here.

Admittedly, I've only been here once, but I had low expectations, given the reviews. However, I found the cafe to be really good. The prices didn't seem to be exceptionally high ($3 for a coffee is pretty standard, I find), and the staff were very friendly, even the older female staff member who is supposed to have an attitude. A good local cafe.

The food here is reliably good, although it does not stand out spectacularly from any other Thai restaurant. I found it somewhat amusing that whilst the waiting staff were very quick to fill up our water glasses, it took a considerable time for them to take our order and fetch the bill. Whilst I would be happy to come here again, it didn't set my culinary world alight.

I went here with a friend on Saturday night. As we hadn't made a booking, we were seating at a table near the door, which was in a draught. However, the staff were exceptionally apologetic, and did all they could to make us comfortable. Food was great, we ordered dolmades, beef in red wine sauce, and chicken, which appeared quickly and were very tasty. Greek coffee was excellent, too. I was really impressed by the service, the waiters were friendly, helpful and genuine. Will definitely be back.
