I will probably come here again as I live locally and sometimes just need somewhere to eat, but it is definitely overpriced for the quality. I ate here a couple of weeks ago and came away with a mixed opinion. The main courses were delicious with balanced flavours and excellent presentation, but the starters seemed to come from a completely difference kitchen.
The oysters were absolutely not fresh, and a huge gripe was the bread on the side. It enrages me more than anything when cold, hard butter is served with bread. To me it is the litmus test of a good restaurant. It seemed that all the effort had gone into the mains but the devil is in the detail, and if you have had to go up and ask if you can order in a fairly empty restaurant, and then eat a piece of average bread which is torn to shreds by the unspreadable butter which is sitting stubbornly in a huge lump in the middle of afore-mentioned bread, it doesn't really matter what the main course is like because irritation and disappointment have already set in like dry rot.
Service friendly but incompetent and they were playing some kind of awful pan-pipe lift music. On the plus side, not full of screaming kids like Barzura just down the road. Coogee needs a decent restaurant.
