How can it be more important for the staff to chat to each other than to at least enquire if you would like a drink to start. At $7.00 per beer there must be a good profit there. A further 5 min. to then serve the drinks, hopeless.
Average but expensive food.

Untrained staff, or a lack of interest from the senior staff has ruined what was a very good restaurant. It's a never again for me.

Great spot for a midweek lunch. Friendly staff add to the relaxed atmosphere. I will return.

An Embarrassment. Last visit we booked 1 week ahead, and the place was packed. This time we booked the same night, a Friday and it was almost empty. 1 Greek 1 French and 2 Skippy's, we all left our meals. Go somewhere else and see how it is done!

Zippo - owner & chef - has been everywhere in the last 10 years, with some great locations and very good food. This place seems like he has discovered that Tapas means small portions & large prices. Sorry mate, I have followed through 5 locations but no more.

Had heard it was good from more than one source. Left it until the last night, Sunday @ 7.00, when the crowds were down. Four of us for dinner with wine thanks. All food and wine and we choose different meals and, therefore, different wine, were excellent. Well thought out, well made and presented and some just a little bit different, Yea. The Hunter is busy Friday and Saturday night, make it Special, make it Sunday.

The food here is good, as is the service. Sad to think, however, that what in Newtown would be an average restaurant is the stand out eatery in Kiama, now that the Backdoor has become an Indian Venue.

P.S. It's not cheap.

It is like your great aunt has done up the weekender she built in the 70's from concrete blocks. The cheapest shower from a kit home has a full frame, fibreglass floor, and not enough room to swing a mouse never mind a cat. The "Kitchenette" is a bar fridge & a kettle. The mirror 300 x 1200 - tiny.

Cane furniture was Passé decades ago. The view and the setting is superb.
Shell in the eggs for breakfast. Shell in the Lobster ($195.00 and about the same amount of meat as a pie). Sorry, we forgot to bring your wine. Fish sliced as thin as Prosciutto with no discernible taste of fish. Most country motels do it better.

What a shattering disappointment, perhaps with a local owner, a few dollars spent on fittings, the cook sacked and a Chef employed this could become a jewel on the South Coast.

Dined with friends who were returning as they hope to work their way through the menu. Meeted, greeted and seated very professionally. The tone is set for the night. Ambience, Decor and Service to match. Antipasto for 4, hold the order for the mains until we are finished please. Massive serve, different and interesting. The Italian speaker on our table loves it. We all manage to eat most of our mains, they are delish. No room for dessert. Next time. Coffee was excellent. Watch out Summer Salt and Sea Level there is a new player in town, and they are good!
