A classic example of an establishment that has quite nice food and lovely wine but is completely ruined by the shockingly bad service, the over crowding, the uncomfortable squashed in tables and chairs (or garden stools) and the overall atmosphere of chaos where no one knows what they are doing.

Trying to squeeze so many tables in that you are literally bumping elbows with the people on the table next to you is just down right greedy!

The wait staff try to be friendly, but they are just way too over worked & dont really seem to have any idea what is going on. Orders routinely get lost or are incorrect, cutlery doesnt show up, it can take half an hour before anyone comes to take your order.

The food (if it shows up & the order is correct) is nice, but unfortunately all the other shortcomings dont make up for it. I would just go elsewhere now.

Food quality and menu selection has, unfortunately, dropped in quality. So sad to see this happening to such a long standing beauty. The worst is the wine list. Being fully licensed, there is no options for a decent wine unless you are happy to pay up around $100 a bottle, where I would hate to even imagine how many hundred percents the mark up is. Absolutely absurd!

Darleys, take note: Something needs to change with the wine list. You are really letting yourself down. Ambience, as always is gorgeous.

Wonderful! One of the best restaurants in Sydney and always a favourite to return to. Whatever we choose to eat is fabulous and we couldn't pick a favourite dish.
Cocktails are delicious and the little bar area is fun and relaxing.

A wonderful experience all round!

We have dined here numerous times and it is always faultless. From food to service, to atmosphere. Just lovely.

Have a drink in the bar or out on the deck before your meal and soak up the fun vibe. A wonderful night out is guaranteed!

Sadly, another once wonderful mountains cafe, seems to of gone bad. I don't know what is going on in the kitchen, but food has become consistently greasy and tasteless. I would go as far as to say inedible!

Very disappointing as this cafe was once a firm favourite.

Atmosphere is great and service is always friendly and pleasant, but the kitchen staff really need to be pulled over the coals!

Fantastic for a relaxed, lively, noisy enjoyable meal. Been going to the Malaya for years (since in was on George Street) and its always reliably good. If you get a table over near the window, the view is great. Service can sometimes be a bit erratic, but due to the size of the place, that could be understandable. The cocktails are wonderful and if its open, try to have a drink in the bar up the end before you eat.

Have been eating here for years and have always enjoyed delicious meals. However, over the last couple of months the food has taken a very steep down turn. I don't know if the chef has changed, but what was wonderful pub grub seems to have become tasteless, greasy and very disappointing. Sadly, some of the younger waitresses are also giving surly, miserable service. After years of it being great, I feel I will now be giving it a miss when in Katoomba.

Great little, buzzing cafe with wonderful food. Very relaxing to linger after your meal. After filling your belly, head into the grocer to fill your basket with a fantastic array of Italian goodies.

Wonderful! I have returned to Otto on many occasions and it is always a joy. Although the food may be slightly pipped by other restaurants of the same calibre, it is still lovely and the service and ambience is just sublime. Wonderful to sit outside on a warm summer evening and relax under the beautiful city skyline.

The food at Silks has been consistently superb for years! Lovely ambience, and decor, a really relaxing experience. The service of late has not been of the exceptional standard of the past but that food! I have never been disappointed and always leave with my taste buds singing! A real joy to eat here!
