Attentive yet unobtrusive service by waiters who knew the menu well. Strong winter produce delivered superb entrées and the fanfare surrounding the shaving of the truffles was enjoyable. Mains were also high quality and the rich flavour of the desserts was only outshone by their decorative nature, making them not only delicious but works of art. The restaurant is in a beautiful location with magnificent views and the décor compliments this well. Excellent value and my best Sydney dining experience to date.

Three visits to Red Lantern in four months confirms the quality of this restaurant. I?ve recommended it to numerous friends, taken some 17 people to eat there and tasted almost every dish on the menu. This place is great! Stand out dishes are the Bo Tai Chanh (lemon cured sirloin), Muc Rang Muoi (chilli salted squid), Bo Kho (beef brisket) and the Ca Chien Don (whole fried snapper). The flavours are strong, balanced and refreshing. Service has varied, but never been poor, and the atmosphere is lively. Value for money is outstanding if you go in a larger group and share a multitude of dishes. Make a reservation to ensure you get a table, and visit quickly before the owners realise what a gem they've got and raise the prices.

As a Leichhardt local for more than 5 years, I hate to burst the bubble but this place is TERRIBLE! I used to trek from the other side of Sydney to eat at Bar Italia, but it's time to move on from the dream of what Bar Italia used to be and come to terms with its current state, which is extremely lacking. The pre-boiled pastas are hardly al dente and the bottled sauces thrown on top are atrocious. Move on from the memories of Bar Italia and treat yourself to truly good Italian meal.

It was good, but nothing fantastic if you often eat out at these kinds of places. The cocktails were interesting concoctions, but some just missed the flavour mark and they were not measured very accurately either. My pomegranate martini (which was delicious) only reached halfway up the glass whereas others were to the rim. My friend even saw the bartender mix two batches for one cocktail when the first batch fell short! Food was slightly above average, but nothing special. The octopus entrée was cooked perfectly, but the aioli could have afforded more of a garlic hit. The main of lamb with caponata was tender, although the flavours were repetitive by the end of the dish. The chocolate soufflé, although intensely chocolate, was not the divine experience I'd expected. Overall a pleasant evening but not a culinary revelation.

Went on a Tuesday night, purely for dinner, and had a great time. Booths were comfy and secluded and the restaurant was practically empty. Service was attentive. The food was lovely: entree of seared scallop salad was divine (the dressing had a perfect bite) and the palate cleanser spoons topped with roe were well composed. My main of crispy skinned duck was good, no complaints, but not as spectacular as the starters. Dessert was the real winner: a tasting plate of which the climax was a white peach trifle. Now trifles do sound very much like a nanna dessert, which was what I thought when the waiter recommended it above all others, however it surpassed all expectation. The peaches tasted fantastic and the jelly was so fragrant. I'm going back there for a peach princess cocktail and that trifle!!!

My work mates and I eat here regularly for lunch. Service can be slow if you're sitting in a corner and isn't very friendly at the best of times, but the food is fantastic. If you're adventurous you can find some real treasures, including the mango sago dessert which is spectacular when mangoes are in season. You'll find you have better service (including free tea) and will be offered more of the delicious dishes if you have a Chinese speaker in your group. Great value for money.

I have eaten lunch here on a few occasions and the food fluctuates between good and mediocre. Sometimes the meal arrives on time, on another occasions I've waited over an hour from arrival until the food was served. The service of the wait staff is kind and attentive, however the floor manager needs some serious lessons in customer service. Perhaps her staff could give her a few tips? My company has held three work functions at Minc and at the last (where over 40 of us attended) she outdid herself by deliberately turning the music up at the beginning of the farewell speech of an employee of 17 years, despite the restaurant being empty of all other patrons save our function. The food is mostly well done and the lunch deal of $15 is good, but not good enough to put up with that kind of cretinous behaviour again.

The service was fantastic, the décor and view superb, these really made the atmosphere. The cocktails (Pear Shaped and Apple Peach Pie) were delicious. The food, although very good, was unfortunately below the standard of this calibre of restaurant. My smoked eel salad had an excellent combination of textures and a crisp dressing of lime crème fraîche. Although some of the pieces were too large in size and caused occasional mouthfuls to be entirely one flavour, rather than a marriage of all the ingredients, this was still an enjoyable dish. The roasted duck main initially omitted an unpleasant odour although it tasted quite delicious. The vegetables accompanying the duck (caramelised onions, beetroot, figs and frizze) suited it very well but could have been more numerous to counter the intense richness of the duck meat. My dessert of poached peach on orange cake was nothing short of amazing. The orange syrup on the cake was rich and well balanced with the accompanying sheep?s milk yoghurt, an excellent alternative to cream or ice cream. The peach was poached perfectly, and still retained its firmness and delicate flavours.

Who would have known that this food court hole in the wall would produce some of the best Thai food in Sydney. Frequented by hoards of Thai customers, Chat Thai makes delicious and traditional Thai food for the CBD lunch rush. Green papaya salad with sticky rice is a favourite of the Thai women and their massaman and penang curries are delicious. The yum nua (beef salad) is my pick!
