I go here occasionally for a weekday lunch, just because I'm at the shopping centre. This is a fairly ordinary cafe, offering ordinary fare, but with great service. The women who work here are attentive and friendly and I enjoy dealing with them. It's a shame there's no competition nearby which might make the cafe up it's food standards a bit. They have some cheap daily specials, but some of the menu is a bit exy for the basic food delivered. Once you know what to expect, however, you can order accordingly, and therefore I've never been disappointed, just never excited either.

Had brunch here on Sunday. I like the decor and seating options (couple of booths, cushions on hardwood chairs, inside and outside).
The food was pretty good, but a couple of comments: the scrambled eggs are very yellow (possibly organic) - don't think had any milk or cream with them, so smaller serve, drier texture, you have to pay extra for different types of bread, standard is white thick cut, extra for sourdough or turkish, the bread comes already buttered, way too much for me, seeping onto plate, would prefer butter on side so can choose if you want to use (I usually don't as other parts of a hot brekkie have enough fat), so left feeling a little ill.
Not much choice in reading matter. Service took a little long, but it was full, so was fine with that. Main complaint would be the music. Think was the pick of the young staff, but not relaxing on a Sunday morning. May be back, but to sit outside where quieter. But will check out other recommended cafes in LBM first.

Went here awhile back for lunch. It is very dark and a bit dreary inside, with non-smiling waiters. The furnishings combined with very mediocre, plain food, making us wonder why it's so popular. Maybe it's dinner is better with live music. Seems to be run by a sombre religious group. We love vegetarian and wholefoods, but this took it to another level. There was no joy in this eating experience. Won't be back.

Went here last month for brunch, based on the recommendation of a Springwood local, as we're new to the area. The menu had recently been overhauled and I think takes itself a bit seriously. There will always be people who want to order bacon and eggs for brunch (but top quality ones), so it needs to be an option on the menu.
All of the experimental dishes looked great, but I was really just craving good ol' bacon and eggs. The place looks very impressive, even the bathrooms, but it doesn't have a lot of personality/soul. There is also some weird thing where they stop serving the breakfast menu at whatever time and then don't start serving the lunch one until half an hour later.
On reading the menu, it's quite confusing, and I'm sure the waiters have to deal with questions about this all the time.

Stumbled across this cafe when looking for somewhere for an early lunch. At about 11.30am on a Tuesday morning, this place was packed. Having recently moved from Sydney, the vibe reminded me of many a cafe there, with a good menu and a variety of cafe types.
The food is slightly pricey, and wasn't a huge serve, but great quality and top service. My only complaint would be that their pile of reading matter was in the far corner and hard to get to when the place was full. I'll be back.

We went for dinner using a Living Social voucher which was a set menu of 4 tapas plus a cocktail each. I agree that they did push their other food and drinks, but luckily we resisted more food as the set menu was filling enough. We didn't even have room to share a dessert. The waiters know their stuff and service is spot on.
The only minor downfall there was some miscommunication between the kitchen and wait staff. I like that it's a small place. It's not cosy, but the lighting is good and music an excellent eclectic groovy mix, and there are a variety of areas to sit with different seating. We had a great time and will be back to try some of their regular menu, including dessert!

The Athenian is a large restaurant, centrally located, with traditional Greek staff and typically generous Greek menu. We had dinner with my parents here on a Friday night and everyone enjoyed themselves. Two of us had the mixed platter, which is great if you'd like a taste of a few things including the lamb, which just fell off the bone. The others had moussaka and chicken souvlaki. We all shared a plate of 6 vine leaves for entree and two desserts of baklava and a custard-type dish. The atmosphere is not cosy, but grand with Greek columns and high ceilings, and a touch on the cool side, but we had no complaints on the night. The food, service and overall value were exceptional. We will be back.

My husband and I went for brekky on a Sunday and were very impressed. In the main cafe strip in Coogee, The Globe is easily the busiest. On a hot day, would suggest sitting outside (shaded) for the breeze, as indoors there are only ceiling fans, but the table configuration and noise levels were good.
We ordered a Works and a Haloumi. They were both delicious and very large portions. We ordered the bacon crispy and they listened! The scrambled eggs were a good consistency, other eggs poached perfectly, great roasted potato, hit-the-spot roasted roma tomatoes. Only downside to the Works was the plain white toast (maybe could request something else instead) and, for me, champignon mushrooms, which I don't like.
The service was great, no attitude, timely, friendly. Recommend going on a Saturday if you're on a budget, as Sunday incurs a surcharge, however, still well priced for what you get. Overall, we were very impressed and will definitely be back. Thanks!

Went here recently for dinner on a Saturday night with 3 friends. We had a nice night, but didn't think it was anything special, so would try elsewhere next time.
Beware the cheese fondue has an extremely strong taste of alcohol. They only use a small amount making it and is cooked off, but the smell and flavour remain, and I felt it overwhelmed the dish, so that you couldn't distinguish any other spices or flavour of the cheeses.
Thought they could have a few more options on the menu. The only option for vegetarians, really, is the rosti, which I wish I had actually had, as the fish was nothing special at all.
We enjoyed the cuckoo clocks and the service was good and knowledgeable. Give it a try if you like Swiss food, but don't expect anything amazing.

My husband & I ate here on a Friday night recently based on recommendations here. I agree that the food is good, but unfortunately there was no atmosphere - the restaurant was empty. We did arrive for an early dinner (6.30pm), but were still there later, and still virtually empty, with only one other couple dining.
It does look like a cafe from the street, with umbrellas over the sidewalk tables, so may miss business that way. Once inside, the lighting and service was good. The tables are a bit different with ottoman style seats - nice bit of padding for the tush, but no back rest.
Garlic prawns entree was average, the blue cheese gnocchi was good. The pumpkin ravioli with ricotta & sage butter sauce was sweet - we hadn't had this dish before, so didn't realise - think there was added nutmeg, too.
Overall worth a try, but if you want any atmosphere, go later on a Friday or Saturday night. Imagine it would be dead on a weeknight.
