My husband and I had a wonderful pre-valentines dinner here last night and felt like we were back on our honeymoon in Seville! Really lovely authentic tapas, I highly recommend the goats cheese with caramelised onions and jamon, as well as the bbq chorizo with chimi churi.

Standout dish of the night, however, was the cinnamon-y Moorish squid with couscous and yogurt (sounds odd yes but delicious), as well as the must try cauliflower, beetroot and almond sauté/puree/salad, I will be trying something similar at home!

All in all a great casual restaurant that is looking like a strong contender for my birthday bash later this year.

Had a birthday dinner here with my husband last night (a Tuesday) - all I can say is, wow, what a brilliant meal! We had the degustation with matching wines and it was superb - on the level with Berowra Waters Inn and the like, but without the price tag (and views) to match. The only issue we had was initially being seated on a small table directly next to the noisy kitchen, when there were clearly other much less noisy tables available - once we brought this to the waiters attention, however, we were moved and much happier. All in all a really brilliant, well paced and interesting meal, and great wines! I would love to return!

Went here for dinner last night with my husband and we totally loved it, proper authentic bold Thai flavours (the heat, however, appeared slightly toned down slightly for Aussie taste buds), small servings of excellently cooked, very good quality food and really friendly attentive service. We had the mar hor (amuse sized but delicious), crying tiger (very tender wagu and smoky tamarind sauce), the Excellent crispy pork belly nam prick (my personal favourite), and to finish we shared some really fresh and delicious banana fritters with pandan and fresh coconut milk sorbet.

All in all, my husband thinks said was the best Thai meal we've had outside of Thailand, and I’m inclined to agree! Surry Hills is definitely raising the bar on authentic Thai. Seeing as they have a banquet menu and actually take bookings I think I’ll head back here for my birthday.

Please people, compare like with like! For a cafeteria style eatery, which, lets fact it, forms part of the option A. Food court vs option B. This place issue we face when hungry at chatswood westfield, this place is a good find! Very quick, efficient service, good filling healthy noodle soups, and better value than the food court! Like it.

Been here on million times, or at least that’s what it feels like.

I'm not entirely sure what I’m missing, but I don’t really like this place. It feels like a glorified cafeteria (yes, even now with the chic new entrance and overly dark wooden accents). The food is good, not great, but there never seems to be anything new on the rotation for yum cha (which, although a large selection, is unevenly weighted towards things in dumplings). Needs more clean, fresh, non deep fried options and less spheres of something… Still, good for a quick work lunch.

Although I can only comment on the drinks here, it needs to be said: this is exactly what crows nest needs! Good spot for a casual drink, nice range of good wines reasonably priced (great gewurtz! who would have thought!?), plus a good range of nice looking snacks etc. If only it weren't so busy on friday nights!

Had the degustation here recently, lovely food and very good presentatino, missing that special something which pushes the food "over the edge" but a brilliantly executed meal with well matched wines and a beautiful view. I will be back, especially with O/S visitors. A great find.

I can't understand why people are so hard on this place. Personally, since coming back from a trip to Thailand and discovering David Thompson's Thai Food bible, this is the first and only place I’ve found in Sydney which veers into the traditional, salty, spicy food we had in Chang Mai and around. I spent the evening in rapture (mouth of fire, but still rapture!), especially the Thai "dips", which were just one of my favourite meals from Thailand, which are more like a curry paste of intensely hot, spicy and salty garlic/ginger/lemongrass. Not for the faint hearted but my god, Mmm. I for one will be back! And next time I’ll be trying the BBQ chicken.

This place is a pub, not a restaurant or bar! Judging it based on the fact that it is in fact a pub, it's a pretty decent place for a local. For me, the best part is that it's big enough to know you can always get a table mid-week, without it being dead and depressing. In winter, the indoors area near the fire is nice and cosy, in summer, the eer garden is unpretentious and relaxing. Try the bbq your own steak/chicken with salad deal, it's good value mid week and let's face it, this is the type of food that pubs are good for!
