So happy we chose to go to dinner on a muggy and wet Sunday night. Dining @ the outdoor brasserie area of this little gem was the best Sunday night, don't want to go to work tomorrow medicine. To the sweet ladies who served us, to the cherry red if the walls and chic Parisian wallpaper, we loved ever minute! The huge Tasmanian oysters with vinegarette were so fresh and the charcuterie board is awesome, a huge selection brought out on slate and quinelled and served specifically for your table.

The main I had was simple mussels, but the fennel, tomato and flat leaf palsy, swimming with the mussels in a cream broth..... Hmmmmm, is all I can say (oh, and Yum) - now awaiting my brûlée, I seem it come out before, it was alight courtesy of cognac, I'm sure it will warm up the night. Come and check it out for yourself!

Have read some good things about Matt Kemps revamp of the old Balzac in to the more casual dining Montpellier house, so my partner and I popped in for an early valentine's day dinner.

First impressions were great, it's a nice gastro pub type dining atmosphere downstairs and a little more formal and funky upstairs, and the place was pumping for a Sunday night, but I think the punters may have only been there for the great range of beer and ciders, as our food experience was terrible. We eagerly ordered a myriad of small plates, but were disappointed by a tasteless scotched egg, an almost off tasting, inedible buck rarebit and the snail and oxtail stuffed in shell was also tasteless...we had more plates, so it gets worse.

The only semi-positive was the black pudding. Two words: tasteless stodge and one cider = $100. unless you live locally, love having a beer in a friendly/ nice environment or like paying a lit of money for tasteless stodge, I don't recommend it. To be fair, we did not have a "main meal" just small plates and 1 pud (eaton mess) which was disappointing also (just cream, cream and more cream) I think you get my jist!

We tried this little local restaurant for the first time, in Lindfield last week. It's a clean little place that’s seems busy enough, with pleasant service. The menu looked good, although pricey, so expected good food. Was disappointed to say the least, so much so - that I would have preferred to stay home and have cheese on toast. My partner had steak and a potato combination of some sort underneath it. Steak was nice enough, but what was underneath tasted slightly wrong. I am sure the chef must taste test the food they are serving, non?

I had seafood in a bouillabaisse style sauce and cous cous. Odd'ish combination I know. The seafood combo was actually quite nice itself, but the cous cous was terrible. Not even seasoned and tasted stale with a slightly metallic flavour. May as well have had a piece of bread with the dish and missed the Cous Cous. To top it all off, we waited an excessive amount of time between Entree and Main, and other in the restaurant were also complaining. Suffice to say that we did not have desert and we will not be back. Poor quality and excessive price.

Cute little French House from a distance. Up close, it's a little tacky. Nice place to sit, nonetheless, if you are seated outside in the lovely wrap around balcony with a view of Hillsong Church one one side and Danks St Depot on the other. The place only serves a selection of Pre-made savouries and sweets. I had the Tandoori pocket (strange thing to have on selection for a "French house") was just like something from Muffin Break), similarly the sweets were certainly nothing to write home about.

Coffee not great either, best thing about it was the pretty cup. Service was pleasant enough, but they get quite angry even if you look like you may be about to take a photo! The only positive is that the iced coffees "look" nice. Unfortunately, I was so disappointed overall that I won't be going back to try one. All I could think about when I was there was to wish I was across the road @ somewhere else!

Tried a new local restaurant Cafe Lyon in Lindfield. Because the chef was formerly of BWI and forty one, even though this is a bistro, rather than fine dining, I still had high expectations of the food and was not disappointed. The 3 course menu at $58 is of exceptional value, even on the cheap side for what you get. The citrus cured salmon entree was so delicious, and the quail was perfectly cooked. The pear tarte tartin for dessert was one of the best I have had in a long time.

As with any new restaurant, there are still a few finishing touches to be made, but it was explained to me that the menu will rotate on a weekly basis, I can't wait to come back and try another delicious dinner @ Cafe Lyon! highly recommended for the food!

Is a great place to meet friends for coffee or a quick bite, late at night. Have always enjoyed the bustling vibe, and generally choose to go to Maisy's for coffee after dining out, rather than having coffee at the restaurant. People go there to chatter, so the vibe is as such. Wait staff are always friendly and service prompt. Not anything to write home about though, and if you're expecting any more than a 24 hour coffee shop, then you'll be disappointed.

From the moment I walked past this place and saw how busy it was, not forgetting to mention the ambience of a funky wine bar, I knew it was going to be a hit. Word of warning, best to book if you want to guarantee a seat as it took me about three times to get in.

The service can be a bit aloof, however, the food is return worthy. Italian Sausage and truffle oil pizza is a winner, as are the delectable arancini balls, with melted cheese at the heart Yum. The olives in warm oil, infused with rosemary and garlic are a treat and the scent lingers. The braised duck ragu is also nice on a winters night. Great dessert menu too, with a good vino list, all whilst not breaking the budget. I'll be back!

A fun little gastronomic experience, with most meals served on slate. Service friendly, although it was a bit annoying how our water was overzealously re-filled seemingly every second or third time we took a sip. The oysters with lemon ice were beautiful, the el buli inspired rice crackers fun, however, the linguine and risotto were not up to the standards we expected.

Dessert was similarly a hit and miss. The pop rocks with the mouse was cool, however, we could not work out the taste, texture or presentation of the fig carparccio, a little on the unpleasant side. Good to check out once, however, would only go again if someone else was paying as a bit exie/hit and miss.

Went for lunch with a colleauge. I love the idea that it is in a back alley behind the IVY complex, which it creates a funky, classy european ambience that we need more of in Sydney! Lunch was nice and lite, however, not lite on the hip pocket. The coffee was average, yet my colleague liked the wine. A great little place to try at least once, if you don't mind salivating @ Justin Hemmes Astin Martin parked right next to you.

Have been to Steel for one client breakfast, and one staff breakfast. The ambience is nice, and service friendly, however, I would expect more from the food based on the experience of the chef. I must say that Steel no longer seems to be open for breakfast and it was not long after it had opened, so hopefully the food has come a long way. The first time, I had a mixture of mushrooms on toast. It tasted quite strange, so thought it was a once off.

I then took one of my team members for a treat and the big breakfast was equivalent to bad in-flight catering. Cardboard like hashbrown, cheap cuts of bacon and soggy tomatoes. At least I can say the coffee was good as we both ordered seconds, however, I was quite embarrassed overall. This experience has turned me off going to dinner, but if someone else is willing to pay, I may go along and check it out (it was also expensive!).
