A very good restaurant for Coolangatta. Nice food, big portions, good service and reasonably priced considering there are views of coolangatta beach. Also, if you shop at the local Coles or Woolworths, there are usually shop a dockets for this place. My boyfriend and I love visiting this restaurant on Christmas holidays with the folks, since they've moved up there.
Bookings are often essential during the Christmas period, very popular!! I recommend choosing a combo dish while dining here, the beef burrito and chicken enchilada is a huge portion!!!!

Being probably one of the most regular patrons here, I have to say that Chao Praya is one of the best Thai Restaurants. Its hard to find a place where rice per person is only $1.5 and not $4-5 like elsewhere!! Plus, no one has ever beaten their beef pad si eew or Choo Chee Chicken! We don't get plonking dishes in front of us as we have been dining there on average once a month for past 3 years so probably actually get treaten like royalty.
Chao Praya's strength is food and service.. there is one particular waiter who always looks out for us as regulars so my ratings are probably entirely from a different perspective to other diners. Bottled water immediately when you arrive, and quality after dinner mints when you leave. Fairly priced food and good portions.
I rate Chao Praya above average but the old management would probably score near to perfect for its calibre of dining as the portions used to be just huge under old management and a more extensive menu. We will still continue to frequent Chao Praya, overall value for money and dining experience in it's calibre, would be an 8-8.5.

Ok, for a start I have just average out my ratings for the four criteria, service, food, ambience and value. Before I break down my individual comments I would like to say to everyone, take a special note::
Do not eat here, only go for a dance and drinks! Do not expect restaurant food because that is not what you will get!! It is more a hang out joint, somewhere to have fun, let your hair down, with your mates, have a nice glass of sangris and go for a bit of a salsa spin and dip with your other half on the dance floor.
Here's for the breakdown with careful considerations for viewing the location as a social hangout and a so called restaurant:
FOOD: Appalling, a paella that came Execessively salty, my boyfriend is brazilian and they love their salt, so having said that, if he suffered, I would dread to think how an aussie would have taken that dish!! Salads with no dressing, unwashed! in other words, I could have made a much better one with my eyes closed!! My gorgeous, gluttonous sausage dog Daschund would not have even prodded it!! for $50 for a small overcooked dish of paella, there was a minimum 2000% turnover!! yep thats it, it prob only cost about $2 in bulk to make. Chorizo that looks like a meat you would give to a Bull Mastiff. Tiny Tapas dishes!!
SERVICE: Nil! Could barely understand what the waitress was saying. And waited forever!
AMBIENCE: Obviously the only above average aspect of this place.
It is hard to give this an overall score out of 10 because you can not judge it as a restaurant. It is highly NOT recommended for eating there but on the other hand, must be commended for providing a unique latin experience, nice sangria and a "drinks and dance after dinner elsewhere" opportunity.
For a restaurant I would give it a 2/10 if that, for a hang out venue, "of it's type" probably a 6. But for the performers, particularly the flamenco dancer, best of luck and it was enjoyable to view your performances...

Absolutely fabulous!! MARAVILHOSA!! QUE GOSTOSA!! Just wonderful food and service! Because I haven't eaten at a place this good in Sydney for quite a long time, I will be generous to give 10/10 for 3 facets of the criteria and 9 for the service. PARABENS!! Uma comida muito gostosa!! Muito Obrigada!
I have been to the best Churrascaria in Brazil "Porcao" and must admit, this is the only Churrascaria in Australia that comes close to it. I nearly got all teary and emotional when I ate here with a big bunch of Brazilians and my Brazilian boyfriend, I was getting very nostalgic as it reminded me of my great culinary holiday last year in Brazil - Sao Paolo, Rio, Minas Gerais and Brasilia.
All the Brazilians at our table agreed it came very close to the standard of Porcao in Brazil and served the traditional like Mandioca De Frita, Arroz do Vovo, Abacaxi com syrup do acucar and one of my all time favourite desserts, Mousse De Maracuja, Passionfruit Mousse which even came with an even tastier big scoop of passion fruit gelato!! Not to mention the imported Brazilian bonbon chocolates like Sonho De Valsa, available at reception for purchase on the way out!!! This place doesn't lose any authentic features of Brazilian culture and upholds the Brazilian reputation for all out there with the food and "with excess."
Overall I would give this place a 9.5!! Sorry no 10, coz you know it amigos, "Porcao Churrascaria" and "Terrace Italia and Mancini's Italian Restaurant" in Brazil can only reap the 10, but this place is definitely in the Top 5 on my list for favourite restaurants in Australia based on value, price, food, service and may I note, service with a BIG FRIENDLY SMILE and pride in sharing the Brazilian culture and fanfare with Australians!!
Don’t waste your time on other churrascarias, this is the one! Having a Brazilian boyfriend and having eaten out from middle class up to very expensive exclusive restaurants in Sao Paolo (where Brazilian elite frequent mainly) and where patrons are excruciatingly critical on everything in life, I know the standard of a churrascaria!!
This one wins hands down (and if it wasn’t good, there is no way they would be surviving the Leichardt rents, this has definitely tickled my fancy, and I am usually a very critical person) I can not wait to return!! No other churrascaria in Australia has come close to Braza by any step of the imagination!!! Ate Logo! See you soon!!
