Seriously cannot understand some of the positive reviews on here, they seem to be placed by the owner or similar: This turned out to be a really disappointing Thai restaurant which is a real shame as Sydney is full of good Thai restaurants. Yes, the location is nice by the water but that's about it and certainly doesn't allow for those prices: Boring and uninspired Thai food that is totally overpriced compared with what you usually pay in Sydney for the same (or better).
Service also sub-standard, the junior waiter who obviously didn't know what he was doing was very inattentive while his grumpy senior staff had nothing better to do than commanding him around, rather than taking over himself and helping his guests.

Great little place for a cheap weeknight meal. The staff and menues are very funny and always make us laugh although you sometimes have to wait for ages until they notice you. Extremely low prices (particularly considering the huge amounts of food you get!) and always tasting great. Unfortunately, you often have to wait quite a long time to get a table but we recently called up before and then just did takeaway as we live just around the corner and that worked very well.

One of the better Indian restaurants in Sydney: the food is great and slightly different to the usual Indian stuff and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive even on a busy weekend night. Will definitiely come back.

I don't know why it's called "Modern Australian" here as nothing is more US-American than those all-you-can eat buffet restaurants. I love Sizzler as it's the only one that made it to Australia though over in the US it's the worst of the lot.
You get a mediocre steak plus a quite extensive all-you can-eat bar with salads, nachos and stuff like that. For an extra few bucks you can include all-you-can drink soft drinks as well, also one of those nice things you find everywhere in the States.
I love the tasteless restaurant design and pretty crap atmosphere but you need to know what to expect if you go here. Somehow the chain manages very well here in Australia to attract the same kind of obese white trash crowd as it does in the US: Very entertaining and great for studying low class suburbia.

We recently went here for my birthday and it turned out to be one of the best dinners I ever had here in Sydney. We enjoyed one of their degustation menues with matching wines, and all the courses were absolutely amazing and actually gave you something to talk about during the meal. The Spanish wines matched perfectly well and their whole wine list is very exciting. Atmosphere is also very nice and gives you a cozy feeling, nice interior design and layout.
Staff was knowledgable and friendly, and explained every single course to us. Only negative are the prices, it's extremely expensive and the portions aren't really generous so I wouldn't go there on a normal weekend. Great for special occasions or corporate dinners though (they have great little separate corners for groups that make you feel like you're the only one in the restaurant).

Common guys, what are you all complaining about? Yes, the atmosphere is what you would expect from a globally operating chain of spare rib restaurants (it looks as if it could be anywhere in the world - big surprise that is) and yes, it's quite pricey. But you get by far the best ribs in Sydney (in Australia, I'd dare to say even) and also other great food that you won't find in many places around here.
Particularly that Onion Loaf they have for starters is absolutely amazing and a typical American grease fest. As with the other meals, this kind of food you can hardly resist unless you are a vegetarian kinda rabbit food lover who shouldn't go here in the first place. Whoever likes great spare ribs will love it though and the service is usually quite fast and efficient even though the staff is not of the smartest kind.

One of our favourite restaurants which serves something a bit different from the usual Thai-Vietnamese-Indian monotony that you get at every corner in Sydney. Excellent Turkish food paired with friendly service. We usually avoid the weekends as you have to endure belly dancing on Friday and Saturday night plus they charge you more on these nights to top it off.
During the weeknights however, it's a great place with really good food for prices that are almost take-away (you have to walk through the Kebab takeaway store in front of the restaurant to enter the main seating area). Interior is a bit dated and the bathrooms are in need for a renovation but apart from this, it's a really nice restaurant.

I had dinner at the Grace Cafe last Sunday night due to lack of options on this night of the week. I had a sirloin steak while my partner had a surf and turf platter. While the seafood looked alright (though nothing special considering the $40 price tag), my plate looked worse than a pub meal: Absolutely disgusting piece of meat (in fact, both of our steaks were among the worst meat quality I've seen in ages- even $10 pub steaks are usually far better) on a bed of cheap greasy fries accompanied by some obviously frozen vegetables. My meal was $36 and even half of that would have been a rip off. Staff also incompetent and reacted very helpless when we complained about the quality.

Great place and our favourite Italian regular now. Finally a decent Italian down at Stanley Street which is not the kind of overpriced and overcrowded, you get served around the corner at Bar Reggio (I seriously don't understand why people aren't looking around the corner and go here instead of lining up for nothing on Crown Street?).
All the waiters are always friendly, you easily get a table any time, the food is excellent and on the weekend they have a funny old man playing the most cheesy music on the keyboard while singing along obviously having lots of fun - we love it!

Whenever I get to the Gold Coast, I have to find a solution for that all-important problem: How to find a decent place to eat that doesn't simply offer the standard Italian or Thai food that you get in Sydney for half the price. This balcan style restaurant is the best option I've found so far and I always go there if I happen to be in Surfer's. Even though it's also not cheap, at least you get a portion that is worth the money and all the grilled meat dishes are just excellent (and better than what you get in Sydney in similar places), especially the Cevaps.
Atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect with the whole owner family and their friends sitting around getting boozed up and if you're lucky, you might even get the most cheezy music from a keyboard player as well. An additional bonus is the fact that this place is a good 15 minutes walk out of Surfer's down the Highway so you won't have to suffer from that "party" atmosphere you will find in the center. I personally prefer the crappy Serbian DJ and the funny waiters here!
