The Courthouse Hotel is a gastro pub bordering on fine dining. We’re just dropping by for a beer and are pleasantly surprised by the boutique beers available on tap. It’s a quiet and easy going atmosphere for a drink later on in the evening on a Friday night.

Loop is an arty, classy but still chilled out place for after work drinks on a Friday. The lounges provide a comfy laid back atmosphere if that’s what you're after, alternatively bag a spot at the outdoor benches/tables for a smoke and enjoy the laneway and the atmosphere created with the Meyers Place Bar across the road.

If you’re not in a suit or corporate attire, you’re out of place. Its much the same on Fridays but the corporate attire is replaced with the dressy casual acceptable for the “casual clothes Fridays” that many companies have.

Woolshed Pub, Docklands

Woolshed Pub is a fine dining restaurant with a bar area simply attached to the back. The large cavernous area at the back (hence the “shed”) is a nice area but pity there’s hardly anyone around to actually enjoy it.

A busy place on a Friday night for after work drinks but clears out rather quickly. Tuscan Bar is good to be outdoors on a balmy evening and have a conversation.

Trunk is kind of hidden away in the shadows of the tall buildings. It’s a decent Friday afterwork drinks venue. It still has that corporate crowd vibe to it but without the suits. To give you an idea of the crowd by making a huge assumption, it’s probably because Telstra’s main headquarters towers over it and Telstra has casual clothes days on Friday. But you get what I mean.

Location location location… Transport Hotel at Fed Square benefits greatly from its location and draws everyone and anyone. It’s a wide diverse crowd but everyone has something in common… drink up and enjoy the night.

There’s two sides to Toff… as you get to the top of the stairs, there’s the bar/booth side on the left and the bar/dancefloor area on the right. Each has a different vibe to it which can basically be summed up in a word as bar on the left and club on the right.

Three Degrees… It’s an easy going pub which is good for a quiet drink afterwork. Near work (well for me anyway), lively atmosphere fitting for a Friday and cheap drinks and food. Good all round combo.

Meyers Place Bar is a no frills watering hole where you can grab that beer or red wine. Unpretentious, reasonably cosy with a decor and vibe that doesn’t try to be anything that it isn’t. Simply a good spot to kick back and enjoy a drink.
