My colleagues and I love Alice's and are regular patrons - for both their lunch specials and for occasional dinners. The lunch specials are particularly excellent - freshly made with lots of fresh produce and authentic Thai flavours, unlike other nearby Thai places that tend to offer only one or two elements in each dish. Alice's is the best value in the area and the service is extremely friendly and familiar.

I have been to Thirst three times since it opened and when I first heard of it I had high hopes, considering its owners’ previous highly respected restaurant ventures. Unfortunately, Thirst has been a progressively more disappointing experience (and the food increasingly less edible) each time I’ve visited. The food could not be further from the “fresh”, “modern”, “Thai” fare they promise.

Last time we visited, the food was so badly prepared and overly seasoned, we doubted whether the chefs had even tested any of their dishes (or cooked them before, or in fact even tasted actual Thai cuisine). The crispy fish salad was nigh inedible, unbelievably sour and inexplicably over-salted. It stung our mouths and included large undercooked slices of lemongrass.

The other dishes were also incredibly salty and unpleasant, there were hardly any vegetables (only small bits of capsicum with hardly any coriander) and the meat in the curries was dry. The only appeal of this place is the wine bar component, they might as well just serve wine and cease to offer this over-priced, underwhelming fare. Unless you wish to eat dishes with a blanket flavour of lime with extra salt, you are far better off visiting any of the Thai restaurants in the twin Sydney building across Northbourne, then heading out for a nice drink elsewhere afterwards.
